Left side abdominal pain during early pregnancy

Abdominal pain in early pregnancy should be taken seriously. If it is ordinary pain, it may be caused by the continuous enlargement of the uterus. Pulling pain on the left side of the abdomen in early pregnancy may be threatened abortion or ectopic pregnancy. Both of these situations are very serious and need to be resolved in time. We can make a preliminary judgment by understanding these two situations.

Threatened abortion

Any symptoms such as abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, and cervical dilation that occur within 28 weeks of pregnancy is called threatened abortion, within 12 weeks of pregnancy is called early threatened abortion, and after that is called late threatened abortion.

Generally, the main symptom of threatened abortion is a small amount of vaginal bleeding after pregnancy. Depending on the amount of bleeding and the time it accumulates in the vagina, the color may be bright red, pink or dark brown. Sometimes it is accompanied by mild lower abdominal pain, a feeling of falling during fetal movement, and lower back pain and abdominal distension.

Gynecological examination revealed that the cervix was not dilated, the size of the uterus was consistent with the number of weeks of amenorrhea, and no product of pregnancy was discharged. After bed rest and related pregnancy preservation treatment, the clinical symptoms disappeared and the pregnancy could continue. If symptoms such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain or backache continue to worsen, they may further develop into inevitable miscarriage.

About half of patients with threatened abortion will actually suffer a miscarriage. Due to excessive bleeding, infection may occur, and even sepsis and death may occur. Therefore, if you experience symptoms of threatened miscarriage, you must go to the hospital for examination in time. Especially if vaginal bleeding occurs in the first three months of pregnancy, you should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible and do not try to take care of the pregnancy at home on your own.

Ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy, also known as ectopic pregnancy, refers to the abnormal pregnancy process in which the fertilized egg implants and develops outside the uterine cavity, with fallopian tube pregnancy being the most common. Inflammation in the fallopian tube lumen or its surroundings often causes poor patency of the lumen, hindering the normal operation of the fertilized egg, causing it to stay, implant and develop in the fallopian tube, leading to miscarriage or rupture of the fallopian tube pregnancy. There are often no obvious symptoms before miscarriage or rupture, but there may also be symptoms of amenorrhea, abdominal pain, and a small amount of vaginal bleeding. Once ruptured, symptoms include acute and severe abdominal pain, repeated attacks, vaginal bleeding, and even shock. Women who are too obese cannot get a clear diagnosis due to multiple tests, which can easily delay treatment and pose a serious threat.

If you are not considering becoming a mother for the time being, you must use good contraception. Good contraception can fundamentally prevent the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy. At the same time, attention should be paid to timely treatment of reproductive system diseases, attention to hygiene during menstruation, delivery and postpartum period, and prevention of reproductive system infections. Go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible after menopause to determine the location of the pregnancy. Obese women are advised to keep their weight within a reasonable range before pregnancy.
