Teeth feel cool

Teeth feel cool

If your teeth feel cold, it may be caused by periodontitis or severe tooth decay. The biggest harm is that you will feel toothache when you eat something too cold or too hot. In addition, eating relatively acidic fruits will make your teeth feel particularly uncomfortable. In this case, there are many treatment methods, and the corresponding treatment should be carried out according to the specific cause.

1. Local treatment

1. Targeting local irritants

Supragingival cleaning or subgingival scaling can be performed, and if necessary, the bite can be adjusted, food impaction can be removed, and poor restorations can be corrected.

2. Treatment of periodontal pockets

When the periodontal pocket is overflowing with pus, it can be rinsed with 1% to 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, and a 10% iodine mixture or a drug film such as spiramycin or metronidazole can be placed inside the pocket. After removing local factors, shallow periodontal pockets can be cauterized with iodine phenol solution; deeper periodontal pockets require periodontal surgery to eliminate periodontitis. When the periodontal pocket reaches the root apex and the teeth are obviously loose, extraction may be considered.

3. Loose teeth fixation

If the teeth are still loose, a temporary or permanent periodontal splint can be used to fix the loose teeth.

4. Treatment of periodontal abscess

When the abscess is localized, it can be incised and drained. The periodontal pockets should also be rinsed and coated with medicated film or iodine glycerin.

2. Systemic treatment

Enhance the body's resistance and actively treat systemic diseases related to periodontitis. When periodontal abscess occurs, patients with severe systemic reactions should take relevant antibacterial drugs orally.

What should patients with periodontal disease eat?

1. Protein is the basis for the growth and development of oral tissues. Protein deficiency can aggravate the development of periodontal disease. Therefore, we should eat more high-protein foods, such as eggs, meat, milk, cheese, grains, legumes, dried fruits, etc.

2. Supplement rich high-protein diet. It can enhance the body's resistance and anti-inflammatory capabilities, and provide the raw materials necessary for repairing damaged tissues. Eat more foods rich in protein, such as soy products, eggs, milk, lean meat, fish and shrimp, etc.
