Treatment and nursing of hepatic ascites

Ascites means that there is some water accumulation in the liver. The water accumulation in the liver can cause lesions in the liver. Therefore, if water accumulation is found in the liver, correct medical methods need to be used to extract the ascites in the liver. Only by draining ascites and completely eliminating the virus can the normal life activities of the human body be guaranteed. Let’s learn about the treatment and care of ascites.

Treatment of hepatic ascites

On the one hand, Western medicine prescribes the right medicine for the condition: medication or surgical treatment is given based on the changes in various examination indicators in cases of ascites. To put it simply, it means “one elimination, one release, one reduction, and one supplement.” The so-called “elimination” means to eliminate the hepatitis B virus. It is to use the special drug lamivudine to fight against the virus.

And eventually eliminate the virus. This can slow down the rate of liver fibrosis. The more severe the fibrosis, the heavier the hardening. Therefore, this can slow down the rate of hardening and reduce damage to liver cells. The so-called "drainage" means draining water. Diuretics can be used for treatment to reduce water and sodium. In severe cases, surgery can be performed to drain the already formed ascites.

The so-called reduction means using drugs to lower the already elevated portal vein pressure. The so-called supplementation means supplementing plasma albumin. By supplementing, we help the sick liver to complete its original functions of storage, maintenance, regulation and transportation.

On the other hand, Chinese medicine traces its roots: the traditional medicine of the Chinese nation pays more attention to treating the root of the disease, and pays more attention to the connection and mutual transformation between diseases. Therefore, the treatment of Chinese medicine is relatively more comprehensive.

First is Qi. Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes that the liver is responsible for regulating Qi. Poor liver Qi can lead to irritability, so drugs that regulate and benefit Qi are often used in treatment. The second is water. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the presence of water in the body is mostly caused by excessive moisture, so it is necessary to strengthen the spleen and eliminate moisture. The third is blood. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the liver and kidneys have the same origin, so drugs that nourish the liver and kidneys can be used. Solve the problem fundamentally through Chinese medicine conditioning.

For patients with ascites, the following measures can be taken for care:

1. The diet of patients with ascites should be mainly soft food and semi-liquid food. They should avoid eating thorny food and spicy, fried and other irritating foods to avoid puncturing varicose veins in the digestive tract and causing bleeding.

2. Chew slowly when eating; be sure to eat more foods that promote absorption and digestion, which can regulate the pressure on the liver and stomach and reduce vomiting blood.

3. If vomiting blood occurs, the patient and family members should remain calm and assist the patient to spit out the vomited blood as much as possible and not swallow it, so as to keep the airway open and avoid suffocation caused by blood or vomit entering the trachea.

4. If the bleeding has just stopped and symptoms such as aggravated abdominal pain, irritability, and pale face suddenly appear, it means that the patient has already developed a severe crisis of blood loss and should be sent to the hospital for treatment in time.

5. When varicose veins rupture and cause bleeding, generally the bleeding rate will gradually slow down and the amount of bleeding will decrease. The bleeding symptoms of many patients will stop on their own. If a large amount of blood is vomited, it is likely to cause the patient to go into shock and the patient should be immediately sent to the hospital for emergency treatment and hemostasis.
