There are chicken skin spots on the legs

Chicken skin is a skin disease that can have a great impact on a person's image. Imagine if your legs are covered with bumps, then when you wear hot pants and short skirts in the summer, it will naturally affect the beauty of your legs and even give others a bad first impression. Therefore, if you have chicken skin, you must treat it in time. Here we will introduce to you the pathological causes of chicken skin, medication treatments, and dietary health care precautions!

Pathological etiology

This disease is an autosomal dominant disease with complete penetrance. However, individual cases have occurred, possibly due to spontaneous mutations.

Because the early damage is in the sun-exposed areas, the lesions worsen after sun exposure. There is a seasonal tendency, worsening in summer and improving in winter. Therefore, it is believed that sunlight may be an important pathogenic factor. However, skin lesions also occur in areas that are not frequently exposed to sunlight, such as the oral mucosa, groin, palms, soles, and nail beds. Because these areas are often susceptible to physical trauma, non-sun damage may also be a cause of the disease.

Based on the low serum vitamin A concentration in some patients and the effective treatment with vitamin A, it is believed that this disease is related to vitamin A metabolism disorder.

Medication

There is currently no satisfactory treatment. Care should be taken to avoid exposure to the sun. You can try taking vitamin A, 100,000 to 200,000 U per day, for at least 2 months. If it is ineffective, stop taking it. If the effect is good, consider reducing the dosage to maintain maintenance. Be careful about vitamin A overdose during treatment, especially in children.

You can also try corticosteroids, and if you have photosensitivity, you can try chloroquine. For proliferative rashes with foul-smelling pus crusts, antibiotics should be given.

Skin lesions can be treated with topical keratolytic agents, such as retinoic acid ointment, sulfur salicylic acid ointment, etc. 5-fluorouracil ointment can also be of some help. Isolated plaque lesions can be treated with laser, freezing, X-ray irradiation or surgical resection.

Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment: It is advisable to strengthen the spleen, remove dampness and moisturize the skin. You can use Jianpi Chushi Decoction, Ermiao Pills and Chushi Weiling Decoction with modifications.

Diet and health care

Since the affected areas of patients with keratosis pilaris generally show signs of roughness and dryness, the symptoms of patients can be alleviated by consuming some vitamin A in their daily diet, such as carrots, green vegetables, fresh fruits, etc. In addition, you can also apply some skin care oils to improve your skin.
