What to do if young people have high blood pressure

High blood pressure is a common condition for middle-aged and elderly people. However, the lifestyle and eating habits of young people nowadays are not very healthy, so it is also very common for young people to have high blood pressure. However, because young people feel that there is nothing wrong with their bodies, they don’t pay much attention to high blood pressure even if it is present, and think that no adjustments are needed.

Although there is no specific treatment for high blood pressure in young people, blood pressure can be controlled within normal levels through daily conditioning. In order to help young friends better regulate their bodies, here we will introduce to you what young people should do if they have high blood pressure.

1. It is recommended to adopt a vegetarian diet, which can lower the blood pressure of patients with hypertension. Therefore, patients with hypertension should have a light diet that is high in vitamins, fiber, calcium, low in fat and cholesterol. Total fat accounts for less than 30% of total calories, and protein accounts for about 15% of total calories. It is recommended to eat more coarse grains, whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, soy products, lean meat, fish, chicken and other foods, and vegetable oils, and eat less lard, greasy foods, white sugar, spicy foods, strong tea, coffee, etc.

2. Eating too much sodium salt is a causative factor of high blood pressure, while controlling sodium salt intake helps lower and stabilize blood pressure. Clinical trials have shown that reducing the daily salt intake of hypertensive patients from 10.5 grams to 4.7-5.8 grams can reduce systolic blood pressure by an average of 4-6 mmHg.

3. Quit smoking and drinking: Tobacco and alcohol are risk factors for hypertension. Smoking and drinking increase the possibility of hypertension complicating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Alcohol can also reduce the patient's responsiveness to anti-hypertensive drugs. Therefore, patients with hypertension are required to quit smoking and drinking, and those who have difficulty quitting drinking should also limit their drinking.

4. Eat in moderation: Eat three meals a day at regular times and in regular amounts. Do not be too hungry or too full, and do not overeat. The daily diet can be arranged as follows: 250/d350 grams of carbohydrates, 400/d500 grams of fresh vegetables, 100 grams of fruit, 20?d25 grams of cooking oil, 250 grams (ml) of milk, 3 servings of high-protein food (each serving refers to: 50-100 grams of lean meat, or 1 egg, or 100 grams of tofu, or 100 grams of chicken or duck, or 100 grams of fish or shrimp. 4 to 5 eggs per week are enough).

5. Drink water scientifically: Water hardness is closely related to the occurrence of hypertension. Studies have shown that hard water contains more calcium and magnesium ions, which are important regulatory substances involved in the contractile and diastolic function of vascular smooth muscle cells. If they are lacking, blood vessels can easily spasm, eventually leading to high blood pressure. Therefore, patients with hypertension should try to drink hard water, such as spring water, deep well water, natural mineral water, etc.

After knowing what to do if young people have high blood pressure, for young friends, if they want to keep their bodies in a healthy state, they should not only pay attention to the above-mentioned diet, but also pay attention to the combination of work and rest. Even if life is too stressful, they should pay attention to rest and help their bodies replenish energy.
