Why does drinking tea cause diarrhea?

Summer has arrived, so many people will get angry. Although life is more busy now and people can reduce internal heat by eating fruits, some people still reduce internal heat by drinking scented tea. There are various kinds of scented tea on the market, such as honeysuckle and chrysanthemum. Many people like to drink tea. Some people with special physical constitutions feel stomach pain after drinking tea, and they will have diarrhea soon after. What's going on? Let’s take a look at why drinking tea causes diarrhea.

1. Drink tea on an empty stomach

Every morning when I wake up, I feel dry mouth and want to drink tea, so I drink it in big gulps. I don’t eat before drinking tea, I drink tea on an empty stomach. Because there is too much stomach acid in the stomach in the morning, and some substances in tea leaves will counteract stomach acid, which will cause stomach pain.

2. I like to drink first tea

Just get the tea and brew it and drink it without throwing away the brewed tea the first time. Since the surface of the tea leaves is not very clean and there may be a little pesticide and dust attached to it, you will feel stomachache after drinking it for the first time.

3. Drink tea after meals

Drinking tea immediately after a meal is not only unhealthy, but also easily causes stomach pain. Since you have eaten too much, a cup of tea will be digested too quickly and you will feel stomach pain. It is best to drink tea one hour after a meal.

  1. Contains many alkaline ingredients

Tea is a stimulant beverage that contains tannic acid and caffeine. Tea has the function of relieving greasiness, clearing the stomach and intestines, increasing gastrointestinal motility, and aggravating diarrhea. Therefore, people who suffer from diarrhea due to gastrointestinal diseases should not drink tea. For example, the alkali in tea of gastric ulcer will stimulate the stomach wall to secrete a large amount of gastric acid, affecting the healing of the ulcer surface. Therefore, patients with ulcer disease should also drink less tea and avoid strong tea.

  2. Tea Allergy

Alkaline food is generally benign. It may also be that the concentration is too high, which has the effect of adsorption and changing the acidity and alkalinity of the intestine. If it is obvious diarrhea, you can add antidiarrheal drugs such as Smectite and observe. If it is not serious, you can observe and treat conservatively. There is no need to be nervous or worried. Try to eat less or not eat it in the future. It may also be caused by catching a cold.
