The brain is a very mysterious place in the human body. Humans rely on the brain to think and direct the work of various organs of the body, so when the brain develops a disease, people will be very frightened. Some brain diseases are chronic conditions, while others develop from chronic conditions. A tumor growing anywhere in the human body is a serious disease, and it is especially serious when it grows inside the brain. There are several common sites for intracranial tumors, and I will introduce them to you one by one. The brain is the most complex structure in our human body, and research on it has always been a difficult problem that the medical community needs to overcome. A brain tumor is a tumor of the nervous system that occurs in the cranial cavity. It is a brain disease that develops slowly and gradually worsens. Due to the particularity of their growth location, the harm caused by brain tumors is enormous. More importantly, the symptoms of brain tumors vary depending on where they grow, and the difficulty of treatment also varies. Today we will look at the four most common sites of brain tumor growth. 1. Central brain tumor Central zone tumors refer to tumors located in the anterior and posterior gyri. Since this area is equivalent to the most important cortical projection area of body movement and sensation, there will be contralateral central facial paralysis, monoplegia or hemiplegia and hemisensory disorders. Motor aphasia may occur if the dominant hemisphere is affected. If there is an epileptic seizure, it is more likely to be a generalized seizure, and the convulsing limbs may be temporarily paralyzed after the seizure, which is called Todd's palsy. Patients with brain tumors growing in the central area have obvious symptoms and signs, and diagnosis is usually easier. CT, MRI and cerebral angiography can determine the extent of the tumor and provide a rough qualitative description. 2. Frontal lobe tumor Frontal lobe tumors are common intracranial tumors, and their incidence ranks first among supratentorial tumors, accounting for about 1/5 of the total number of intracranial tumors. Glioma is the most common type, accounting for about 25.57% of the total number of intracranial gliomas; followed by meningioma, accounting for about 11.45% of the total number of intracranial meningiomas; in addition, congenital tumors, metastatic tumors, etc., also often occur in this area. The most notable change in frontal lobe tumors is the change in neuropsychiatric symptoms; personality changes are also common. The main manifestations are intellectual disability, indifferent expression, indifference to surrounding things, lack of cleanliness, lazy lifestyle, and some patients show loss of inhibitory ability. Temporal lobe tumors The incidence of temporal lobe tumors ranks second among cerebral hemisphere tumors, second only to frontal lobe tumors. Temporal lobe tumors often have no typical clinical symptoms in the early stages of the disease. Especially for those tumors located on the right side, most of them only show symptoms of increased intracranial pressure such as headache, vomiting, and papilledema. Among them, changes in the visual field are often one of the early symptoms of temporal lobe tumors and have positioning significance. As for other symptoms and signs, they rarely appear, so they have been clinically called "quiet area" or "dumb area". 4. Parietal lobe tumors The function of the parietal lobe is very complex. It mainly analyzes and integrates various sensory information to distinguish and determine the nature and location of stimuli. Therefore, the damage caused by parietal lobe tumors is mainly manifested as sensory disturbances in the contralateral half of the body. Most patients may have definite symptoms and signs, especially when accompanied by localized sensory epileptic seizures, which is more valuable for localization diagnosis. |
