Reasons why thyroid nodules shrink

Thyroid nodules are a disease that exists in the thyroid gland of our human body. There will often be some problems in this place, and there will also be many abnormal conditions, including the shrinkage of thyroid nodules. This situation generally occurs due to many reasons, but many people do not know its specific reasons. So what is the reason for the shrinkage of thyroid nodules?

This disease is related to the patient's mood. Long-term depressed and irritable mood will cause the thyroid gland to be in an unstable state for a long time. Over time, it will lead to the occurrence of this disease.

Too much or too little iodine can cause thyroid nodules. Because iodine is the main component required by the thyroid gland, it can maintain normal thyroid function. Residents in coastal areas eat a lot of seafood in their daily lives, which leads to excessive iodine in their bodies and causes diseases. However, people in mountainous and plateau areas generally suffer from diseases due to insufficient iodine intake. Therefore, residents must control their iodine intake in their lives.

The occurrence of this disease may be closely related to the development of current detection technology. In the past, most thyroid examinations were performed by surgical palpation. The thyroid gland is very hidden.

Overweight, hyperlipidemia and diabetes have a certain impact on the occurrence of thyroid nodules. The calculation method of body mass index (BMI) is: weight (Kg) / height squared (m2). It is generally believed that a BMI between 18.5-24 is normal. Studies have found that the incidence of thyroid nodules in obese people with BMI>25 is higher than that in normal people. At the same time, high blood lipid levels, including total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides, are also related to the occurrence of thyroid nodules. The prevalence of thyroid nodules in patients with type 2 diabetes is significantly higher than that in the normal population. Body mass index, blood lipids and diabetes influence each other and can be controlled through diet and exercise in the early stages. Therefore, a reasonable diet, less greasy food, more fresh fruits and vegetables, and proper exercise can not only control weight, lower blood lipids, and stay away from diabetes, but also prevent the occurrence of thyroid nodules.

Smoking is also a risk factor for thyroid nodules, especially in iodine-deficient areas, and heavy smokers have a higher incidence of thyroid nodules than moderate smokers. As we all know, smoking is also related to the incidence of many diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, hypertension, coronary heart disease, etc. Therefore, refusing to smoke and quitting smoking early is an important guarantee of health.
