c14 Helicobacter pylori detection

c14 Helicobacter pylori detection

In modern medicine, there are many ways to detect Helicobacter pylori, including the C14 breath test and the C13 breath test. These are the two most commonly used detection methods. They are conducted by testing the components of human breath. If Helicobacter pylori is detected in the gas, you should seek treatment from a doctor because this bacteria can cause stomach problems in the human body. So what is the detection principle of C14 Helicobacter pylori?

1.C14 breath test:

Principle of C14 breath test:

Since C14 is very stable, it is often used as a marker. In the Helicobacter pylori C14 breath test, after the subject takes urea C14 capsules orally, if there is Helicobacter pylori in the stomach, the urease produced by it can quickly decompose urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia. The carbon dioxide enters the lungs through the blood and is excreted from the body. The expelled 14CO2 gas (with markers) is collected and measured on the instrument to determine whether Helicobacter pylori is in the stomach.

C14 breath test detection method and process introduction:

1. The subjects must be fasting for the examination.

2. Take 14C urea capsules orally.

3. Sit quietly for about 25 minutes.

4. Exhale into the gas collection bottle (stop exhaling when the liquid in the gas collection bottle turns colorless or the time reaches more than 3 minutes) or the carbon dioxide absorbent (exhale for 3 minutes until the test paper turns golden yellow)

5. Give it to the doctor to implant the instrument for testing.

C14 breath test test standards:

The normal value of C14 is less than 100 (dpm/mmol CO2) for negative, and greater than 100 for positive. For example: hp.positive++dpm=854. In this report, the value is greater than 100, so it is judged to be Helicobacter pylori positive.

2.C13 air blowing test

C13 breath test principle introduction:

Because HP bacteria contain urease, when they encounter swallowed 13C-urea in the stomach, they will break it down into 13CO2. 13CO2 is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, circulates through the blood, reaches the lungs, and is exhaled. As long as we collect the exhaled gas and measure the 13C-labeled 13CO2 in it, we can accurately prove whether there is HP infection.

Normal people do not have HP, 13C-urea does not decompose, 13C-urea is excreted through the urinary system, and there is no 13CO2 in the exhaled gas.

People infected with Helicobacter pylori have Helicobacter pylori in their bodies, which can decompose 13C-urea, so there is 13CO2 in the exhaled gas.

C13 breath test inspection process:

1. Grade name, gender, number, barcode number and date, etc., and grade name and number on two test tubes respectively.

2. The first breath test is a blank test, that is, the gas exhaled when fasting, also known as zero-time exhalation, which is not restricted by time.

3. Take one 13C urea capsule and a cup of about 250ml water orally and start the time immediately.

4. Second exhalation: It is exhaled into the second test tube after 20 minutes, called the 20-minute specimen.

5. The third exhalation: It is the exhalation into the third test tube after 30 minutes, which is called the 30-minute specimen.

Testing process:

1. Exhale completely, hold the test tube with your left hand, hold the bottle cap with your right hand, and blow into the test tube as hard as you can for 4-5 seconds. When the air tube leaves the glass tube, immediately tighten the bottle cap with your right hand.

2. The timing of breath testing should be correct:

a. First time before taking the pill (white hat)

b. The second time is 20 minutes after taking the pill (blue cap)

c. The third time is 30 minutes after taking the pill (red cap)

3. The whole process takes about 45 minutes

4. Generally, the report can be obtained within 2 working days

C13 breath test positive criteria:

The result is super accurate DOB

Diagnostic criteria:

Helicobacter pylori diagnosis positive: DOB>4.4

Helicobacter pylori diagnosis negative: DOB < 3.6

Note: If you need a follow-up examination, you should stop treatment for one month, including antibiotics, acid-suppressing drugs, etc., but you do not need to stop taking Wei Yue Ke probiotics.
