Supragingival hemangioma

Supragingival hemangioma

In our daily life, we should take good care of our oral cavity, especially pay more attention to oral hygiene. Gingival hemangioma is a relatively common dental disease. When suffering from this disease, a relatively obvious bulge will appear on the gums. When the bulge is relatively large, it will affect the patient's daily diet, and even cause the gums to bulge when eating.

Common symptoms of gingival hemangioma: red or purple patches may appear on the alveolar bone on the side of the cheek and the mucosa at the tooth hole. The patches are higher than the mucosa and have clear boundaries. The color will become lighter when pressed and return to its original color when not pressed. Sometimes the roots of the teeth bleed when brushing, which makes many patients unable to brush their teeth. If gingival hemangioma appears on the side teeth, it will also cause periodontitis, accompanied by a little pain, increased gum bleeding, and bleeding symptoms at the root of the tooth when eating!

How to prevent gingival hemangioma? Gingival hemangioma is a benign tumor and will be fine as long as it is surgically removed. Normally, try not to eat too greasy or spicy food. Eat more light food, drink more boiled water, and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, which can effectively improve symptoms. In daily life, you should pay attention to eating less or no sweets, and develop the habit of rinsing your mouth after meals and brushing your teeth before going to bed to reduce the chance of disease. Gingival hemangioma is composed of many capillaries and blood sinuses of different shapes and sizes. If the tumor is large, it may cause facial deformity and affect normal diet. Occasionally, the superficial capillaries may be bitten when chewing. Toothache can be caused by many reasons, such as gingivitis, caries, dentin hypersensitivity, apical periodontitis, etc. Gingival hemangioma is just one symptom of oral disease.

Types of supragingival hemangiomas (1) Granulomatous type: Similar to inflammatory granulation tissue, with many new capillaries and fibroblasts, accompanied by many inflammatory cell infiltrations, mainly lymphocytes and plasma cells, with few fibrous components, and the gingival mucosal epithelium often presents pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia. The gingival surface of granulomatous gingival tumor is red or dark red, with a soft texture and easy bleeding. (2) Fibrous type: granulation tissue is fibrotic, with a decrease in cell and vascular components and an increase in fibrous tissue. There is a small amount of chronic inflammatory cell infiltration between the thick collagen fiber bundles, calcification or ossification may be present within the fiber bundles, there are irregular trabeculae but no odontogenic epithelial structure, which is called peripheral ossifying fibroma. This fibroma is considered to be a reactive neoplastic proliferation derived from the periodontal ligament rather than a true tumor. The gingival surface of fibrous gingival tumor is smooth, the color is not much different from that of normal gingival tumor, and it is not easy to bleed. (3) Vascular type: There are many blood vessels, similar to hemangioma, and the fibrous tissue between blood vessels may be edematous and myxoid, and there is inflammatory cell infiltration. The gums bleed easily.
