Difference Between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Difference Between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

We may often hear two terms, one is rheumatoid arthritis and the other is rheumatoid arthritis. How can one be rheumatic and the other rheumatoid when they are both arthritis? Is rheumatoid arthritis very similar to rheumatoid arthritis but with a milder condition? We cannot just take the words literally, but need to look at the problem from the perspective of scientific development.

In order to understand and distinguish rheumatoid arthritis from rheumatoid arthritis, we also need to compare the concepts, treatment methods and clinical manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis respectively.

The concept of rheumatoid arthritis must be distinguished from rheumatism. Before the mid-19th century, the two were often confused. With the development of science and technology and medical care, people have a clearer understanding of rheumatoid arthritis. Morning stiffness is the first symptom of rheumatoid arthritis. Patients will find that their joints are inflexible when they wake up in the morning. The morning stiffness will be reduced or disappear after getting up and moving around. At the same time, patients will also experience swollen and painful joints, and may also experience symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, and fever.

Rheumatoid arthritis functional activity classification

Grade Ⅰ: The joint functions are intact and general activities are unimpeded.

Grade II: There is joint discomfort or disorder, but general activities can still be completed.

Grade III: Functional activities are obviously limited, but the patient can take care of himself for most of the time.

Grade IV: Unable to take care of oneself or bedridden.

Difference Between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Different incidence conditions: The age of onset of rheumatoid arthritis is mostly between 9 and 17 years old, with a similar ratio of males to females. Rheumatoid arthritis is more common in middle-aged women.

Different causes: Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by streptococcal infection, while rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease of the synovium caused by various reasons.

Different symptoms: Rheumatoid arthritis often affects large joints (knees, elbows, etc.) without causing joint deformities. There are also symptoms of annular erythema, chorea, and carditis. Rheumatoid arthritis often affects small joints (especially the metacarpophalangeal joints, proximal interphalangeal joints, and wrist joints), as well as other large and small joints, often causing joint deformities in the late stages. Rheumatoid nodules and visceral lesions of the heart, lungs, kidneys, peripheral nerves, and eyes may also occur.

Laboratory tests are different: rheumatoid arthritis has high anti-O, rheumatoid arthritis often has high rheumatoid factor, and CCP and AKA will be positive.

Different treatments: The main focus of rheumatoid arthritis is to eliminate streptococcal infection, while related treatments are also provided for joint pain, carditis, etc. The goal of rheumatoid arthritis is to prevent joint destruction, protect joint function, and maximize the patient's quality of life. Use slow-acting antirheumatic drugs as early as possible. During joint pain and swelling, apply Chinese medicine externally to control pain and other symptoms. Provide relevant treatment when visceral complications occur.

Different prognosis: No joint deformity remains after treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Joint deformities may occur in the late stages of rheumatoid arthritis.

Above we introduced what rheumatoid arthritis is and what rheumatoid arthritis is. There are great differences between rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. After reading the above article, we understand the differences between rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in examination, prognosis, etiology, treatment, and incidence.
