The occurrence of gastroesophageal reflux and its complications is multifactorial. These include defects in the esophageal anti-reflux mechanism, such as lower esophageal sphincter dysfunction and abnormal esophageal motility; there are also functional disorders of many mechanical factors outside the esophagus. Swallowing pain may occur in severe esophagitis or esophageal ulcers, which is caused by acidic reflux stimulating the sensory nerve endings under the esophageal epithelium. Refluxed materials can also stimulate mechanical receptors to cause esophageal spasmodic pain. In severe cases, it can be severe stabbing pain that radiates to the back, waist, shoulders, and neck, similar to angina pectoris. Due to esophageal spasm or functional disorder, some patients may also have difficulty swallowing, and when esophageal stenosis occurs, the difficulty swallowing continues to worsen.

Second, choose light, soft, and easily digestible food: To reduce the chance of reflux, you should try to choose light, soft, and easily digestible food, and avoid eating greasy fried and pickled foods. You can eat some pasta, such as steamed buns and noodles, but you still need to control the amount of buns and dumplings with pure meat fillings. It is best to eat less meat soups such as chicken soup, meat soup, and pork rib soup, and also avoid fat, pork skin, etc. It should be noted that eating some lean pork, chicken, and fish in moderation will generally not aggravate the condition, but will be beneficial for supplementing nutrition.

What are the dietary precautions for gastroesophageal reflux? Eat less food that delays gastric emptying: Delayed gastric emptying not only indirectly increases the chance of reflux, but also causes patients to experience various discomforts such as abdominal distension and belching. This category of food mainly includes some sticky foods, such as rice dumplings, rice cakes, Yuanxiao, and fermented glutinous rice. Eat less food that is obviously irritating to the gastric mucosa: This type of food can increase the secretion of gastric juice, causing a significant increase in the amount of major reflux products such as gastric acid in the stomach, and will also increase the chance of reflux. This category of food mainly refers to food that is too cold, too hot, too sour, too sweet, and spicy, including onions, garlic, candy, etc. You must be extra careful about drinks that can obviously irritate the stomach, such as alcohol, coffee, and strong tea, and drink as little as possible.
