What does vaginal ultrasound check?

Vaginal color ultrasound is also a common gynecological examination item. It is different from ordinary abdominal color ultrasound. It uses a high-frequency probe, so its functionality is very strong. It mainly checks some gynecological diseases, such as the development of ovarian follicles, the condition of the pelvic cavity, and uterine and ovarian fibroids. It has a better examination effect and the examination effect is also relatively accurate.

What does vaginal ultrasound check?

Vaginal color ultrasound uses a high-frequency probe with powerful functions. It is mainly used for the examination of gynecological diseases. This technology can monitor the development of ovarian follicles, clearly observe pelvic organs and small lesions, and detect the blood flow of the uterus and ovaries. In addition, it can also diagnose early pregnancy, early ectopic pregnancy, uterine and ovarian tumors, early endometrial lesions, pelvic abscesses, inflammatory masses and other lesions, and the examination results are relatively accurate.

Since transvaginal color ultrasound requires a probe to be placed through the vagina, patients who have never had sexual intercourse in the past should never use this method. Generally, doctors will ask the patient about this before doing transvaginal color ultrasound. In addition, patients with heavy vaginal bleeding, such as those who are menstruating, have irregular vaginal bleeding or have vaginal inflammation, are not suitable for transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound because there may be a risk of infection and cross-infection. In addition, generally speaking, it is best to do transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound three to four days after the menstruation is over.

the difference

1) The requirements for abdominal color ultrasound examination are the same as those for B-ultrasound. Gynecological examination requires holding urine and the examination must be performed when the bladder is full. Generally, unmarried women and women who are menstruating cannot undergo this examination. 2) Vaginal color Doppler ultrasound examination, no need to hold urine, married women and women who have had sexual life can have this examination, which can shorten the examination time and eliminates the need to wait. Raising the hips during the examination will help show the anterior pelvic structures. Transvaginal ultrasound can clearly show the shape, size, follicles, and blood flow of the uterus, endometrium, and bilateral ovaries. It is clearer than abdominal ultrasound and the diagnostic results are more accurate. 3) Superficial organ color Doppler ultrasound mainly examines the breast, thyroid gland, facial organs, limbs, etc. 4) Cardiac color Doppler ultrasound is a special probe used to check for heart diseases.
