Rotavirus diarrhea

Rotavirus diarrhea

Rotavirus diarrhea is a common type of diarrhea. As people continue to update their medications, the virus is also being updated at an accelerated rate. Rotavirus diarrhea is more common in children under the age of five. For children of this age, their physical fitness is not very good and their resistance is relatively weak. Once infected with rotavirus diarrhea, the condition is relatively serious, which is a headache for many parents.

In response to social needs, the epidemic prevention station will recommend the injection of rotavirus diarrhea vaccine, which can prevent the chance of infection with this virus, and even if you get diarrhea, it will not be a serious illness. The following is an introduction to what rotavirus is.

Rotavirus is one of the main pathogens that cause diarrhea in infants and young children. It mainly infects small intestinal epithelial cells, causing cell damage and causing diarrhea. Rotavirus is prevalent in summer, autumn and winter every year. The route of infection is fecal-oral. The clinical manifestations are acute gastroenteritis and osmotic diarrhea. The course of the disease is generally 7 days, with fever lasting 3 days, vomiting for 2 to 3 days, diarrhea for 5 days, and severe dehydration symptoms.

Rotavirus (RV) is a double-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Reoviridae family. It is the single leading cause of diarrhea in infants and young children, and nearly every child in the world by the age of about five years has been infected with rotavirus at least once. However, after each infection, the body's immunity will gradually increase, and the impact of subsequent infections will be reduced, so adults are rarely affected. There are seven types of rotavirus, numbered alphabetically as A, B, C, D, E, F and G. Among them, type A is the most common one, and more than 90% of human rotavirus infections are caused by this type.

Rotavirus is transmitted via the fecal-oral route. It infects the enterocytes that line the small intestine and produces enterotoxins, which can cause gastroenteritis, severe diarrhea, and sometimes even death due to dehydration. Although rotavirus was discovered in 1973 by Ruth Bishop of Australia and is responsible for more than 50% of hospitalizations for severe diarrhea in infants and young children, it is still not widely recognized in the public health community, especially in developing countries. In addition to its impact on human health, rotavirus can also infect animals and is a pathogen of livestock.

To prevent rotavirus diarrhea, we must prevent rotavirus, which is the most common virus that causes autumn diarrhea. I hope parents and friends will do a good job of defense. First of all, we must cultivate good hygiene habits for children. The food should be clean and not mixed with raw water. Also, pay attention to washing hands before and after meals. It is best for infants and young children under the age of five to receive a shot of vaccination every year. This can reduce the chance of disease and is also a form of protection for the child.
