Flat warts are a skin disease caused by a viral infection, which often occurs among adolescents. Because most of them grow on the face or hands, they can be transmitted through direct or indirect contact. Some patients may have symptoms of itching but do not know how to treat it. Flat warts can be treated by applying ointment or freezing with liquid nitrogen. What ointment is effective for flat warts? Let’s learn more about it. 1. Typically, a single lesion disappears within 2 months. If left untreated, the entire course of the disease usually lasts 6-9 months and can also last for several years. The most convenient and effective methods for treating molluscum contagiosum are surgical treatment or topical medication.
Clamping is an ancient and still the most commonly used treatment method. It is to clamp the wart with a small vascular clamp and then remove it. Then apply 2% iodine tincture or carbonic acid or trichloroacetic acid and apply pressure to stop the bleeding. Cryotherapy or laser therapy to remove warts Chemotherapy ① Apply 10% potassium hydroxide aqueous solution to the skin lesions twice a day and stop using when signs of inflammation or superficial ulcers appear; ② Phenol. Ren Wanming used 80% phenol solution to treat 200 patients with molluscum contagiosum. The method was to first take 80g of crystalline phenol and put it into a clean conical flask, add 100ml of distilled water, and then heat it to make it fully dissolved and then package it for use. The treatment was to use a cotton swab dipped in the liquid medicine and then apply the medicine to the lesions one by one. Be careful not to apply the liquid medicine to normal skin to avoid damaging the skin. After about half a minute, a layer of white film appeared on the lesions and the surrounding area was slightly red and swollen. 1-2 days after stopping the medication, the lesions will show dark brown necrotic scabs which will fall off and heal in about 10 days. If there are still individual lesions that have not healed or new skin lesions have appeared, the medicine can be applied repeatedly until they are completely healed. If the skin lesions are extensive and numerous, treatment should be divided into several sessions to avoid adverse reactions caused by drug absorption. Results All 200 patients were cured, of which 124 patients were cured once, accounting for 62%, 49 patients were cured twice, accounting for 24.5%, and 27 patients were cured more than three times, accounting for 13.5%. Except for 21 cases who felt mild burning pain after application of the medicine, no other adverse reactions occurred. In addition, oral antiviral drugs or intramuscular injection of interferon or polyinosinophil injection can be used. During treatment, care should be taken to isolate and disinfect the patient's clothing and other supplies until the infection is eliminated. 2. Western medicine treatment of molluscum contagiosum 1. Local treatment: Molluscum contagiosum is mainly treated locally. (1) After disinfection and under aseptic conditions, prick the top of the molluscum contagiosum to reveal the cheese-like molluscum bodies, which can then be gently squeezed or picked out with tweezers. Or you can directly use tweezers to clamp the wart and pull it out, then apply 2%-2.5% iodine tincture/iodine wine and apply pressure to stop the bleeding. If there are a large number of them, after disinfecting the skin lesions, puncture the molluscum and apply 5%-10% iodine tincture once a day. They will dry and fall off within 7 days. (2) Phthalide cream has antiviral effects and can be applied to the surface of warts 2 to 3 times a day for 3 weeks. If the molluscum warts cannot be eliminated after the treatment, they should be scraped or extracted. (3) 1% 5-fluorouracil solution is used externally 2 to 3 times a day for 2 weeks. When using, dip a cotton swab in a small amount of liquid medicine and apply it directly to the top of the wart. (4) 0.1% retinoic acid solution for external use, twice a day for 2 weeks. Be careful to protect the surrounding skin. (5) For topical application, use a small syringe filled with liquid medicine to apply the medicine to the lesions one by one, preferably in the center of the wart. Generally, two treatments are sufficient for one wart, and the lesions will fall off on their own after 10 days.
Liquid nitrogen freezing: use a freezer to spray liquid nitrogen on the surface of the wart and thaw it 3 times. The warts usually fall off after 1 week. Dip a sterilized bamboo stick in a little concentrated Lysol and apply it directly to the surface of the wart. For larger rashes, remove the small bodies of molluscum contagiosum before treatment. Repeat after 10 days. (8) Add 15 ml of 99% glacial acetic acid to 20 g of edible flour, mix well to form a paste, and apply it to the wart. Electrocautery. Generally, systemic medication is not required. If the number is large, it is advisable to treat in batches or add antiviral oral or injectable agents. External application of acyclovir ointment, interferon, and wart-killer also has certain efficacy.

Antiviral: ① Ribavirin 0.2, intramuscular injection twice a day; ② Polymyxin B 2 mg, intramuscular injection once every other day; ③Viralin 0.2, cimetidine 0.2, orally 3 times a day. Immunity promotion: Levamisole 50 mg, taken orally 3 times a day for 3 consecutive days, followed by an 11-day break. Recently, a British magazine introduced the use of 10% potassium hydroxide solution to treat molluscum. The molluscum in 32 children disappeared 30 days after the application. This is considered a safe, effective, inexpensive and non-invasive alternative treatment.
