Correct sleeping position for pregnant women, solutions to poor sleeping habits for pregnant women

For pregnant women, they need to take protective measures in all aspects of life, and whether the sleeping posture is correct actually has an impact on the health of the fetus. So, what is the most correct sleeping position for pregnant women?

Lying on the left side is the correct sleeping position for pregnant women

As the pregnancy progresses, the uterus continues to grow larger, even occupying the entire abdominal cavity. This will squeeze the nearby tissues and organs, and the uterus will rotate to the right to varying degrees, putting the ligaments and mesentery protecting the uterus in a state of tension. The blood vessels in the mesentery that supply nutrients to the uterus are also pulled, which will affect the fetus's oxygen supply and easily cause chronic fetal hypoxia.

If pregnant women sleep on their left side, they can reduce the right rotation of the uterus and relieve insufficient blood supply to the uterus, which is beneficial to the growth and development of the fetus and the delivery of the pregnant woman.

What should pregnant women do if they can’t sleep well?

1. Take a warm bath one hour before bedtime

Taking a warm bath can warm the body, promote blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, relax nerves, and eliminate fatigue, which are all factors that induce sleepiness. But pregnant women should remember not to take a bath, and the water temperature should not be too high (just slightly higher than the water temperature). Bathing for 15-20 minutes will make you feel comfortable all over. But we would like to remind you that after taking a bath, your body temperature will be high for a while, which will make it difficult for you to fall asleep. Therefore, you should take a bath one hour before going to bed so that you can have a good sleep!

2. Improve the bedroom environment

Reducing visual and auditory stimulation can help you sleep, so turning off the lights in the bedroom (or using a night light), not watching TV before going to bed, and installing sun-shading and sound-proof curtains can all create a relaxing sleeping atmosphere and allow you to have a sweet sleep until dawn.
