What to do if you have stones in your bladder

What to do if you have stones in your bladder

Bladder stones are relatively common urinary stones. Bladder stones, kidney stones and ureteral stones often affect each other. When bladder stones occur, they must be treated promptly and certain methods must be used to expel the stones in a timely manner. If the stones are not large, Chinese medicine stone-removing drinks can be used to promote the excretion of the stones. If the stones are relatively large, intracavitary surgery, ultrasonic lithotripsy, etc. should be used for treatment.

What to do if you have stones in your bladder

What are the good treatments for bladder stones? There are two main types of treatment: removing the stones and correcting the causes of their formation. The surgical treatment methods for bladder stones mainly include endoscopic surgery, open surgery and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). It is recommended that you go to a regular, professional stone hospital for surgical treatment. The new breakthrough treatment principle of dual-positioning extracorporeal ultrasonic lithotripsy is to focus the extracorporeal shock waves on the stones and break them into mud and sand, which are then excreted from the body through the urethra with urine to achieve the treatment goal. This treatment generally does not cause damage to the body's tissues. The patient does not need anesthesia during the treatment and will not feel obvious pain.

1. Endovascular surgery

For stones with smaller diameter and looser texture, transurethral cystoscopic lithotripsy can be used. At present, the most commonly used clinical methods are pneumatic lithotripsy and laser lithotripsy. Generally, residual stones with a diameter of about 1 to 2 mm can be ensured to be discharged on their own; anti-infection treatment should be strengthened after the operation, and patients should be advised to drink more water to promote the discharge of stones.

2. Open surgery:

For patients with larger stones or who need to treat other bladder diseases at the same time, suprapubic cystolithotomy can be performed. The indications for surgical treatment of bladder stones are: bladder stones in children; stones that are too large; combined with prostatic hyperplasia or urethral stenosis, etc., which require open surgery; stones in bladder diverticula, especially giant bladder diverticula; combined with bladder tumors that require open surgery; stones growing on the basis of bladder foreign bodies; those who cannot undergo laparoscopic surgery for various reasons, etc.

3. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL):

For stones with a diameter of 1 to 2 cm, ESWL treatment can be performed in the prone position. However, due to the large bladder capacity and significantly increased stone mobility compared to the upper urinary tract, it is more difficult to focus and locate during surgery, and the lithotripsy effect is difficult to determine, so it is rarely used at present. The above introduces the treatment methods for bladder stones. I hope it will be helpful to all patients with bladder stones. Once bladder stones are diagnosed, you must go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time, but you must choose a treatment method that suits you.
