Precautions for applying ginger to knee joints

Precautions for applying ginger to knee joints

Human joints may be injured due to long-term exercise, and a variety of methods are used to treat them. If the knee joint is affected by cold, it is recommended to use ginger slices for hot compress, but there are some things to pay attention to when using ginger for hot compress. Because once improper methods are used, other disease symptoms may easily occur. Therefore, you must pay special attention. So what are the precautions when applying ginger to the knee joint?

As the application time gets longer, you will gradually feel a burning sensation in your legs. You must persist at this time, generally half an hour is appropriate. Elderly people generally do not need to do it every day. Generally, doing it every 2 or 3 days is the best effect.

To avoid burns, put several layers of towels, small cushions, etc. on the cloth bag, and then remove them layer by layer as the temperature drops. If it doesn't feel hot enough, ask your family to help heat it again. If you are doing this yourself while lying on your back, place a layer of plastic under the salt bag to prevent the bedding from getting wet.

Also, the order of applying hot compresses must be starting from the calf, and then moving upwards little by little, especially the acupoints on the back. Do not leave out until the big vertebra. Don't forget, and finally move to the front lower abdomen for hot compresses. In this way, the meridians of the whole body will basically be opened up.

It has a certain effect in relieving pain from cold joint pain. Ginger should generally be eaten raw and not steamed, otherwise the medicinal properties will change.

Ginger slices are spicy and irritating. Applying them directly to the skin may cause irritation to some people with sensitive skin and cause local skin allergies. It is recommended that you wash the ginger thoroughly before applying it externally. If there are symptoms of skin tingling or itching, remove it in time and wash it with clean water.

Everything has its limits. Although ginger is beneficial, it is warm in nature and can easily cause dryness and damage yin. Therefore, do not apply too much at one time, otherwise it will be harmful.

Women with symptoms of heat and fire, such as carbuncle, red eyes, internal heat, constipation or hemorrhoids, should use it with caution.

If fresh ginger is left for too long and becomes rotten and produces an odor, it is likely that a new substance - safrole - will be produced, which may induce malignant tumors when applied on the skin.

People who suffer from yin deficiency, hyperactivity of fire, red eyes and internal heat, or those suffering from carbuncles, pneumonia, lung abscess, tuberculosis, gastric ulcer, cholecystitis, pyelonephritis, diabetes, and hemorrhoids should not apply ginger for a long time.

From the perspective of treating diseases, it is only suitable for patients with wind-cold colds or stomach cold and fever after being caught in the rain. It cannot be used for patients with summer heat colds or wind-heat colds, nor can it be used to treat heatstroke.
