What to prepare before cesarean section

What to prepare before cesarean section

A series of examinations need to be done before a cesarean section, including testing the pregnant woman's body temperature, pulse, respiratory system, and uterus and vagina, including a breast examination to see if breastfeeding can be carried out smoothly. The body needs to be cleaned before a cesarean section, and attention should be paid to fasting before the operation to avoid postoperative infection, and not taking medicine casually, etc.

Precautions before cesarean section

A series of examinations are required before cesarean section, including the pregnant woman's temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, past medical history, current physical examination results, blood type, blood routine, blood coagulation, liver function, HIV virus, hepatitis C, syphilis, electrocardiogram, and B-ultrasound to determine the health status of the pregnant woman and fetus and whether she is breastfeeding after delivery. Here are some things to note before a caesarean section:

1. The length of hospitalization will be determined by the doctor based on the condition of the fetus. The patient will be hospitalized one day before the operation as agreed to receive pre-operative preparation.

2. Have a light dinner the night before surgery and do not eat after midnight to ensure intestinal cleanliness and reduce intraoperative infection. (No food or water is allowed 6-8 hours before surgery.)

3. The number of caesarean deliveries should not exceed 3 times.

4. The interval to the next pregnancy must be longer than the interval between natural births.

Dietary considerations before cesarean section

1. It is not advisable to abuse high-end tonic products before cesarean section. Such as Korean ginseng, American ginseng, and squid. Because ginseng has cardiotonic and stimulant effects, squid is rich in organic acid substance - EPA, which can inhibit platelet aggregation and is not conducive to postoperative hemostasis and wound healing.

2. Do not eat within 6 hours after cesarean section. During laparotomy, the intestinal tract is irritated, which stimulates the intestinal function, slows down intestinal motility, and causes gas accumulation in the intestinal cavity, which can easily cause abdominal distension after surgery. After 6 hours, it is advisable to take some gas-relieving foods (such as carrot soup, etc.) to enhance intestinal peristalsis, promote gas discharge, reduce abdominal distension, and make urination and defecation smooth.

3. Postpartum women should also eat less or no foods that are easily fermented and produce a lot of gas, such as sugars, soybeans, soy milk, starch, etc., to prevent abdominal bloating. After the mother has passed gas, her diet can be changed from liquid to semi-liquid. The food should be nutritious and easy to digest. Such as egg soup, porridge, noodles, etc., and then the diet will gradually return to normal depending on the mother's physical condition.
