Chinese medicine prescriptions for cor pulmonale, recommended Chinese medicine prescriptions

The treatment of cor pulmonale must not be ignored, because the damage caused by these diseases will affect health and life, but attention should also be paid to the correct use of medications. For example, Wenshen Jiuxin Decoction and Jiawei Xiaoqinglong Decoction can be effective for treatment.

1. Wenshen Jiuxin Decoction

[Composition] 7.5 grams of roasted aconite root, 25 grams each of white atractylodes and poria, 15 grams of white peony root, 25 grams each of raw astragalus and acanthopanax bark, 5 grams of asarum, 7.5 grams of cinnamon twig, 10 grams each of schisandra and licorice, and 15 grams of ginger.

[Usage] Soak the medicine in water for half an hour, then decoct it in water and drink. After boiling the first decoction, simmer for 30 minutes on low heat. After boiling the second decoction, simmer for 20 minutes on low heat. Mix the two decoctions together and take in 4 doses, 100 ml each time, about 1 hour after breakfast and dinner.

【Function】Warms the Yang and replenishes Qi, eliminates dampness and promotes diuresis.

[Indications] When Yin is stronger than Yang, water and dampness stagnate inside the body, rising to the heart and lungs and causing palpitations, oliguria, edema, shortness of breath and inability to lie down, and blue lips, which are water-dampness diseases (cor pulmonale, rheumatic heart disease).

2. Xiaoqinglong Decoction with Flavors

[Composition] 9 grams each of ephedra, cinnamon twig, white peony root, 6 grams each of asarum and dried ginger, 9 grams each of schisandra and pinellia, 30 grams of gypsum, and 6 grams of licorice.

[Usage] Decoction in water, 1 dose per day, twice a day.

【Function】Warm and dispersing water to drink.

[Indications] Cor pulmonale caused by fluid stagnation in the heart and lungs. Symptoms include long-term cough and asthma, large amounts of thin sputum, which is very painful to spit out, leaning on the bed and unable to lie flat, palpitations and shortness of breath, chest tightness and dry retching, mild edema of the head, face and limbs, pale tongue with white coating, and wiry pulse.

3. Naqi Pingchuan Drink

[Composition] 3-9 g ginseng (decoction separately and take with water), 6 g cooked aconite, 15 g cooked rehmannia, 3 walnut meats (with skin), 12 g cornus fruit, 30 g raw yam, 9 g schisandra, 15 g each of purple quartz (decoction first), 15 g of magnetite (decoction first), 9 g cordyceps, 1.5-3 g agarwood (taken with water), 9 g placenta powder (taken in two doses with medicine juice).

[Usage] Decoction in water, 1 dose per day, twice a day.

【Function】Warms the kidney and nourishes the vital energy, replenishes qi and relieves asthma.

【Main Indications】Cor pulmonale (kidney failure to absorb air type).
