Symptoms of intercostal neuralgia

Symptoms of intercostal neuralgia

Nerves are the most important component of the human body. Every part of the human body has nerves and sensations. Only with the existence of nerves can we have various movements that we can control. But once there is a problem with the nerves. It needs to be resolved in time, otherwise it will affect the normal functioning of the body. Intercostal neuralgia is a common condition among people. The causes are relatively complicated and the correct method needs to be chosen for treatment. But what are the symptoms of intercostal neuralgia?

Common causes of intercostal neuralgia include:

1. Intercostal neuralgia: The pain is caused by compression of the intercostal nerves or inflammatory stimulation, and it is difficult to find the primary disease that causes the disease.

2. Herpes zoster: The herpes virus invades the nerves in the chest and causes disease. Patients of this type often develop herpes along the nerves, causing paroxysmal neuralgia that lasts for several seconds. It is easier to diagnose patients after they develop herpes.

3. Tumor metastasis causes neuralgia in some late-stage tumors that damage the intercostal nerves. However, this type of pain is often persistent, worsens at night, and is difficult to control with medication.

4. Vertebral compression. This type is more common in elderly patients, who often have spinal deformities, which is what we usually call "hunchback". Such patients generally have symptoms on both sides. The pain is distributed along the nerves and is continuous. They can usually rest in bed, and the condition worsens after bearing weight.

5. Caused by other reasons, such as peripheral neuropathy caused by diabetes.

Symptoms of intercostal neuralgia

1

Intercostal neuralgia often presents pain as the main symptom, which has a serious impact on the patient's work and life.

2

Once the disease occurs, the patient's ribs and costal cartilage junction will become bow-shaped, swollen, and dull pain, sometimes radiating to the shoulders, back, armpits, neck and chest, and sometimes chest tightness and shortness of breath. The pain is relieved when resting or lying on the side, and the pain is aggravated by deep breathing, coughing, lying flat, chest straightening and fatigue.

3

Intercostal neuralgia must be treated as early as possible to avoid the disease becoming more difficult in the later stages.
