What to do if your 1-year-old baby has a thick white tongue coating

A one-year-old baby cannot speak yet and doesn’t know how to express if he feels uncomfortable. An experienced doctor or an elderly person at home can determine the baby's current physical condition by observing the color and thickness of the baby's tongue coating. Because some physical problems will be truly reflected in the baby's tongue coating. So, what is going on when a baby's tongue coating is thick and white?

One is to control the amount of food the baby eats. Sometimes when babies encounter food they like, they often eat it without knowing whether they are hungry or full. This can easily make them overeat, and over time it can cause gastrointestinal digestion disorders. Therefore, parents should control the amount of food their babies eat. They can eat more at noon and must eat less at night. Experienced doctors will warn us: children don’t get sick from hunger, they are just full. If you think about it carefully, it makes sense.

Second, eat less greasy food with high protein content. These foods are difficult to digest, and eating too much will put a heavy burden on the baby's fragile digestive system. For example, it is not easy for children to eat too much fried dough sticks and lean meat. Especially when the baby has a thick white tongue coating, it is important to avoid eating this type of food.

Third, drink more millet porridge and other porridges that are good for the stomach and intestines and easy to digest. Millet porridge with rice oil is the most nutritious, especially the layer of rice oil floating on the surface, which can effectively protect the baby's stomach and intestines. If babies drink more sticky millet porridge, it can effectively relieve the symptoms of indigestion, and the tongue coating will gradually return to normal. When cooking millet porridge, you can add some rice and mung beans in moderation.

Fourth, avoid eating dishes that are too spicy or too salty. Babies’ diet should be light and slightly salty, so that the child will not be harmed by the vegetables. However, babies should not be fed very spicy or salty dishes, as such dishes can cause great irritation to the baby's esophagus and stomach, affecting the normal digestive function of the stomach and intestines. Over time, this can lead to indigestion and thick tongue coating.

Fifth, eat more warm food. The food that babies eat should be hot, not too hot. This is most easily accepted by the baby's delicate stomach and intestines, can make the stomach and intestines work better, and the baby's digestion will be more normal.
