Can you get pregnant if you have secondary infertility?

Secondary infertility refers to a situation where a woman has been pregnant before, but has not become pregnant for a year without taking any contraceptive measures. There are many reasons for secondary infertility, including both medical and physiological reasons. The most common reasons are artificial abortion, medical abortion, and some gynecological diseases, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the cause and then conduct regular treatment and conditioning.

Can secondary infertility be cured?

Secondary infertility can be cured as long as the symptoms are treated in time. There are many reasons for female secondary infertility, which may be problems with the fallopian tubes, uterus, ovaries, etc. If you want to get pregnant, you must find out the cause of the disease and then treat it accordingly to cure it.

There are many causes of secondary infertility, such as artificial abortion, medical abortion, immune infertility, ovarian dysfunction, sexually transmitted diseases and amenorrhea. To treat secondary infertility, it is necessary to understand the cause of the disease in women and then provide symptomatic treatment. Therefore, women are reminded that secondary infertility can be treated. Do not have psychological pressure or be overly nervous, otherwise it will affect the treatment effect.

The treatment principles for secondary infertility include drug treatment and surgical treatment. Drug treatment is suitable for mild patients, while surgical treatment is suitable for severe patients, so patients should choose a treatment method that suits them.

Causes

Among the causes of secondary infertility, female factors account for about 50%, male factors account for about 40%, and other combined factors account for about 10%.

1. Female factors

(1) Uterine factors: Uterine fibroids, uterine malformations, intrauterine adhesions, endometriosis, endometrial polyps, endometritis, etc. are not conducive to conception. Cervical inflammation, abnormal position, etc. can lead to infertility.

(2) Fallopian tube factors: The inability to conceive is caused by fallopian tube obstruction. Common causes include fallopian tube inflammation, fallopian tube spasm, fallopian tube tuberculosis, fallopian tube effusion, fallopian tube adhesion, etc.

(3) Ovarian factors: Ovarian tumors, premature ovarian failure, ovarian dysfunction, etc. can all cause infertility.

(4) Inflammatory factors of the lower genital tract: Infections such as Trichomonas, fungi, and bacteria destroy the natural defense function of the vagina, causing vaginal inflammation, which can reduce the motility of sperm and shorten the survival time of sperm, causing temporary infertility.

(5) Immune factors: The male sperm, as a foreign protein-antigen, causes the female body to produce antibodies. In some women, this immune response is particularly strong, and the anti-sperm antibodies are positive, causing the sperm to coagulate and lose their activity, leading to infertility.

(6) Mental factors: Mental abnormalities and excessive mental stress, which in severe cases may lead to a mental "child-seeking mania" and can cause endocrine disorders and lead to infertility.

(7) Factors of artificial abortion: Multiple or excessive curettage may damage the basal layer of the endometrium, leading to amenorrhea or scanty menstruation. It may also cause endometritis, endometrial damage and intrauterine adhesions, affecting the implantation of the fertilized egg and causing infertility.

(8) Chemical and physical factors: such as lead and mercury poisoning, smoking, drinking, radioactive factors, environmental changes, deficiency of trace elements and vitamins, etc., also have an impact on conception.

(9) Systemic diseases: including hypothalamic-pituitary diseases, diabetes, thyroid and adrenal dysfunction, etc.

(10) Others: Pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic peritonitis, tuberculous peritonitis, peritoneal endometriosis, etc. can all cause infertility.
