Sudden convulsions in sleep

Sudden convulsions in sleep

I don’t know if you have ever encountered a situation in life where your body or a certain part of it suddenly twitches, and then you wake up from your dream, only to find that nothing happened. However, your brain clearly feels the state of your body, but you often don’t take it seriously. However, in medicine, this kind of convulsion is caused by problems with one’s own skills, and a big reason is calcium deficiency. So today I will analyze for you why you suddenly convulse in your sleep?

Reasons for sudden twitching while sleeping:

There are many reasons for unconscious twitching during sleep, which can be summarized as follows:

1. When a person is under great mental stress, the nerves in the brain are in a tense state, which may cause convulsions.

2. The human body loses a large amount of calcium, and calcium deficiency causes convulsions.

3. Lack of exercise and poor physical fitness are also causes of convulsions.

4. Some people have latent epilepsy, which manifests itself relatively obviously when they are unconscious.

5. Muscle tension caused by exercise or some other reason before going to bed, and the muscles beginning to relax after falling asleep, can also cause convulsions.

Differential diagnosis of sudden twitching during sleep:

If you are awakened several times during your sleep by twitching of your lower limbs and find it difficult to fall asleep, this is myoclonus syndrome. In this case, you need to see a doctor for medication to inhibit the reflex. Many people have experienced calf cramps during sleep. Calf cramps are actually caused by abnormal neuromuscular excitement, which leads to spasm of the leg muscles or muscle groups. At this time, the tensile strength of the muscle bundles is significantly greater than the tensile strength of the muscle bundles when the muscles contract normally. Therefore, there will be a feeling of soreness or more severe pain when the calf cramps. Generally speaking, an attack can last for several seconds or tens of seconds.

Cramp is a common name for twitching, which is a manifestation of temporary brain function disorder. The movement of human muscles is controlled by the brain. When the relevant cells in the brain that manage muscle movement are temporarily overexcited, uncontrollable muscle movement will occur. It can be limited to a certain group of muscles or one side of the body, or spread to the whole body, which is called cramps.

Sometimes when sleeping, there seems to be some sign, and suddenly the whole body (legs) convulsed and twitched, waking up, spontaneously, without any external interference.

When you fall asleep, the motor commands connecting your brain to your lower limbs are weak. This phenomenon is the result of erroneous operation caused by conditioned reflex instructions between the spinal cord and lower limbs. One in five adult women has experienced this. It often occurs in people with anemia, kidney problems or pregnant women.

Treatment and prevention methods:

It is advisable to use Chinese angelica, astragalus, dragon bone, mother of pearl, Uncaria rhynchophylla, Codonopsis pilosula and other drugs to nourish qi and blood, calm the liver and calm the nerves.

Eat more vegetables and fruits, milk, and soy products that are rich in calcium. If you have time, you can also get more sun exposure, which can help absorb calcium. If you have a seizure at night, get up and step on the ground, and you will get better soon.
