What's the matter with phlegm sticking in throat?

There is phlegm in the throat, and the symptoms are more obvious when I wake up in the morning. I can't cough it out, which is very uncomfortable. Some people experience this situation mainly due to chronic pharyngitis. They need to go to the hospital for a physical examination, find out the cause, and then receive treatment. However, some people who do not have any physical illness are also deeply troubled by it. Here I will introduce to you some quick methods to eliminate phlegm and resolve blood stasis. I hope it will be helpful to you.

What is the reason for excessive phlegm

When talking about "phlegm", people who are not students of Chinese medicine often think of the "phlegm" that is spit out.

In fact, the scope of "phlegm" in traditional Chinese medicine is very broad, including "tangible phlegm" and "intangible phlegm". Tangible phlegm refers to the phlegm coughed up.

In addition, some diseases such as dizziness, nausea and vomiting, palpitations, shortness of breath, coma or madness may also be caused by phlegm. This invisible phlegm is called invisible phlegm.

"The spleen is the source of phlegm, and the lungs are the container of phlegm." The production of phlegm is mainly related to the lungs and spleen. The lungs control breathing and regulate qi.

When evil qi invades the lungs, it can easily cause the body fluid in the lungs to condense into phlegm. The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation, that is, digesting and transporting nutrients to various organs.

If dampness invades the human body, or if one thinks too much, is overworked, or has an unhealthy diet, the spleen can be damaged and lose its function of transporting and transforming water, causing dampness to stagnate inside the body and condense into phlegm.

As for the "tangible phlegm", the main types that you can distinguish by yourself include cold phlegm, hot phlegm, wet phlegm and dry phlegm.

Cold Phlegm

The sputum is white, the patient is afraid of cold, likes to drink hot drinks, and has a thin white tongue coating. This condition is caused by a feeling of cold. Patients can use tangerine peel, platycodon grandiflorum, etc. to make tea, which can also cure colds.

Hot phlegm

The phlegm is yellow and sticky, which is caused by heat evil invading the lungs or by being afflicted with wind and cold and having a high fever for several days. The patient is afraid of heat and likes to drink cold drinks, and has a red tongue with yellow fur. At this time, it is necessary to clear away heat and resolve phlegm. Eat a light diet and avoid fried or stir-fried foods that can easily cause irritation. You can drink some fresh bamboo water or pear juice.

Wet phlegm

The sputum is white and watery, the patient feels heavy, easily tired or has loose stools, and the tongue coating is thin white or greasy. This is because dampness invades the human body (such as living in a humid environment), causing dysfunction of the lungs and spleen, or eating too much greasy food and lack of exercise lead to dysfunction of the spleen's transportation and transformation functions.

At this time, you should eat more spleen-strengthening foods such as coix seed, yam, etc. At the same time, strengthen exercise and control weight.

Dry Phlegm

The sputum is thick and difficult to cough up, and the patient feels dryness in the mouth, nose and throat and has a thin yellow tongue coating. At this time, you should drink more water. You can use yin-nourishing medicines such as Adenophora Root and Ophiopogon japonicus instead of tea. At the same time, keep the respiratory tract moist and use a humidifier indoors.

What to do if you have phlegm in your throat

Drinking more water can reduce the irritation and impact of phlegm on the respiratory tract, help eliminate toxins, and dilute the secretions in the throat, making it easier to cough out.

When you cough, pat your back with your hands more often, and it is best to bend down. But remember not to use force when taking pictures, otherwise it will be counterproductive.

It's best not to smoke. We found that the sputum coughed up by smokers was very thick.

If a smoker feels that there is a lot of phlegm in his throat, he should reduce his smoking. It's best to quit smoking.

If you don't have a smoking habit but still feel phlegm in your throat, it may be that the environment you are in is very dry.

It is recommended that you keep your home moist, such as by spraying some air freshener.

Because if the air humidity is high, it is conducive to the vibration of cilia on the surface of the mucosa and helps to expel sputum.

Finally, we can also relieve the symptoms through a combination of diet and medication.

For example, drink more orange peel water and pear juice.

If it doesn't work, take some therapeutic medicine. If it is serious, go to the hospital.
