Qingshang Quntong Decoction

Qingshang Quntong Decoction

Qingshang Quntong Decoction is mainly used to treat headaches. This soup is mainly composed of Chuanxiong and Xiao Qianghuo, which have good blood-replenishing and qi-relief effects. Moreover, Chinese herbal medicines can be added according to the location of the headache, which has a stronger therapeutic effect. Next, let’s learn about Qingshang Quntong Decoction.

The name of the periodontal prescription is Yayongqingshangqutongtang, which originated from Shoushibaoyuan in the Ming Dynasty.

For the periodontal structure of the gums, take one qian (3 grams each) of Chuanxiong, Qianghuo, Baishao, Qianghuo, Fangfeng, Chishao, Ophiopogon japonicus, and Duhuo, three fen (0.3 grams each) of Asarum and Licorice, five fen (1.5 grams each) of Vitex Manni and Huangjuhua, and one qian and five fen (4.5 grams) of Bupleurum.

How to use for periodontal gums: decoct in water and take orally.

The periodontal effect on the gums disperses wind, cold, and heat, and relieves headaches.

Periodontitis is mainly used to treat all kinds of hemiplegic and gingival headaches, red tongue, dry tongue coating, and floating and stringy pulse.

Periodontal clinics use gingival clinics mainly to treat symptoms such as recurrent pain and trigeminal neuralgia.

1. Recurrent headache: 32 cases were treated with self-medication and compared with 30 cases treated with Zhennaoning. One course of treatment is 4 days, and generally 4 courses of treatment are required (with 3 days between courses). The judgment criteria were clinical manifestations and whether the disease recurred within one year. Results: 32 cases were cured. (Sichuan Traditional Chinese Medicine, Issue 4, 2001)

2. Sanyou neuralgia: 40 cases were treated with modified Qingshang Juantong Decoction and compared with 30 cases with basic treatment (intramuscular injection of carbamazepine, diazepam, vitamin B21, and vitamin B212 injection). One course of treatment is 10 days. The efficacy was observed after 2 treatment courses. The efficacy was evaluated as complete relief of pain and no recurrence during follow-up within 1 year, and the patients were considered cured. Results: 22 cases were cured, 16 cases improved, 2 cases failed, and the total effective rate was 95%. (Sichuan Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2007, No. 8)

The periodontal prescription "Jie Ya Qing Shang Qu Tong Tang" is the main prescription for treating "all headaches, regardless of upper or lower, side or right, new or long-term." Ju Rui Bupleurum clears the stagnant fire in the upper part, Huang Juhua and Man Jingzi soothe the liver, dispel wind and relieve pain, Chuanxiong and Qianghuo regulate the blood stasis in the head, making it thin and pain-free. Red peony root dispels wind, clears heat and removes dampness, Ophiopogon japonicus guides the qi downward to clear the accumulated fire in the upper part, and licorice harmonizes all the medicines to relieve pain. All the medicines are used together to achieve the effects of dispelling wind, clearing heat, detoxifying, unblocking meridians and relieving pain.

In clinical medicine, headache, cold limbs, runny nose, thin white or thin yellow tongue coating, and floating, rapid and slippery pulse are the key points of diagnosis. If symptoms are mainly cold, remove Bupleurum, Ophiopogon japonicus, and Red Peony Root, and add Schizonepeta tenuifolia; if the heat is severe, remove Angelica dahurica, Notopterygium wilfordii, and Asarum, and add mulberry leaves, Forsythia suspensa, and honeysuckle tea; if there is a lot of turbid nasal discharge, add Xanthium sibiricum, Beehive, and Magnolia officinalis.

When using it, please note that it is not suitable for headaches caused by kidney deficiency and wind-yang disturbance, as well as headaches caused by qi and blood deficiency.

Contemporary scientific research on periodontal gingivitis reports that it is commonly used in the treatment of various types of headache symptoms such as vascular headache, cervicogenic headache, post-dural puncture headache, cysticercosis headache, migraine, etc.
