How to tell if the uterus is retroverted or anterior

The uterus, as a reproductive organ unique to women, is the source of all life and the harbor for nurturing life and reproducing the next generation. All fetuses' growth and development are completed in the uterus. Generally speaking, we know that the position of a woman's uterus is divided into anterior uterus, median uterus and posterior uterus. The anterior uterus is considered to be a normal position, and the chance of conception is greater than that of a posterior uterus. So how do you tell whether the uterus is retroverted or anterior?

How to determine the normal value of anteroposterior position of uterus

The position of a woman's uterus in the pelvic cavity can be divided into anterior uterus, median uterus and posterior uterus.

Under normal circumstances, the uterus is in an anteverted, anteflexed position. Anteversion: refers to the entire uterus tilting forward. Anteflexion: refers to the angle between the longitudinal axis of the uterus and the longitudinal axis of the cervix and vagina being less than 90 degrees.

Retroverted uterus: When the uterine body falls backwards toward the rectum, it is called retroverted uterus. There are two types of retroverted uterus: retroverted uterus and retroflexed uterus. When the longitudinal axis of the uterus remains unchanged and the entire uterus tilts backwards, it is called a retroverted uterus. When the uterus is tilted backwards and the junction of the uterine body and the cervix forms an acute angle, it is called a retroverted and retroflexed uterus. The former is more common, the latter is less common. Common causes are ligament relaxation, pelvic diaphragm and broad ligament bottom damage caused by multiple deliveries.

How to tell if the uterus is retroverted or anterior

Women themselves cannot correctly determine the position of the uterus, and it mainly depends on the doctor's examination. Clinically, the uterus is divided into anterior, median, and posterior. A mid-position uterus is more favorable for pregnancy. The mid-position uterus makes it easier for the fertilized egg and sperm to combine and enter. As the name suggests, an anterior uterus means that its overall position is relatively forward and tilted forward. A retroverted uterus refers to a uterus that is tilted backwards. Surveys show that many women have problems with retroverted uterus and anterior uterus.

What are the effects of anterior-posterior uterus on the human body?

An anterior uterus will not have any impact on women, and a posterior uterus generally will not affect sexual life, but a posterior uterus may affect pregnancy. Mild retroverted uterus generally does not cause symptoms and does not require treatment. Severe retroverted uterus often causes symptoms, mainly lower back pain. In mild cases, there is only soreness and discomfort in the lower back. In severe cases, the entire waist, sacrum and coccyx, and iliac regions on both sides feel sore and uncomfortable. In some patients, the soreness and swelling extend to the lower back and groin on both sides. Lower abdominal soreness and anal distension often coexist, and symptoms are often aggravated by fatigue and menstruation. If not corrected in time, it may also lead to dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, increased leucorrhea, sexual discomfort, miscarriage, infertility, etc. For patients with retroverted uterus, if the retroverted uterus has not corrected itself three months after conception, the displacement of the bladder neck and urethra and the upturned cervix may compress the posterior urethra and cause acute urinary retention.

What should I pay attention to when my uterus is in anterior and posterior position?

An anteverted uterus does not cause any harm to women. But the retroverted uterus should pay attention to:

1. Actively correct the retroverted uterus. Insist on lying on your side, back, or kneeling 2-3 times a day, each time for half an hour, to give the uterus a chance to lean forward and flex. During menstruation, you should also lie prone once a day because the uterus is slightly softer, which helps it to tilt forward. If the retroverted uterus is more serious, you should often do the knee-chest position, that is, kneel perpendicular to the ground, and your waist should be bent downward instead of arched upward, for about 15 minutes each time.

2. During sexual intercourse, the woman should place a cushion or a small pillow of appropriate thickness under her buttocks to raise her buttocks so that the ejaculated semen can be concentrated on the posterior fornix of the vagina. The woman should continue to raise her buttocks and lie in bed for 20-30 minutes. At the same time, the woman should not urinate within half an hour after ejaculation to prevent the semen from flowing out, so that the cervix can fully contact with the semen, thereby increasing the probability of sperm entering the uterine cavity.

3. When having sex, the man should be in the back position while the woman should be kneeling on her stomach, which is also conducive to the storage of semen injected into the vagina in the vault.

In daily life, girlfriends can read more books about physical health, or do some physical examinations regularly, which can further prevent sudden attacks of diseases. Developing good eating and sleeping habits in daily life is a manifestation of being responsible for your own health. If abnormal pain in the uterus occurs, you must pay attention to it to avoid trouble in the later pregnancy. If you have gynecological diseases, you should take them seriously to prevent inflammation or bacteria from spreading upward and damaging the uterus. When choosing underwear, you should focus on breathability.
