Drugs that increase platelets

Drugs that increase platelets

Low platelet count has a great impact on human health. At this time, you can use medication under the guidance of a doctor. There are many drugs that can raise platelets. For example, hormone drugs are very effective, but their side effects are relatively large. You must use appropriate drugs for treatment based on the specific cause. Pregnant women are also prone to low platelet counts. At this time, you must first increase dietary adjustments and understand some precautions.

Drugs that increase platelets

Hormones are effective drugs, but they have serious side effects. Long-term use can lead to stress-induced obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, femoral head necrosis, etc. There is also immunoglobulin. Depending on the weight, about 10 bottles are needed for 100 kg of body weight, and each bottle costs 600-700 yuan. It is expensive and the efficacy is short-lived, so it is only used as an emergency drug. Another option is to transfuse component platelets, but this can easily cause an immune response. These are probably the only effective drugs in Western medicine. Other therapeutic drugs include immunosuppressants, danazol, inosine, aminopeptides, nucleotides, etc.

What to do if pregnant women have low platelet count

1. You should increase nutrition in your daily diet and eat more chicken, duck, fish, meat, milk and soy products. Choose foods rich in iron such as animal liver, kidney, heart, lean meat, egg yolk, vegetables such as spinach, celery, and tomatoes, and fruits such as apricots, peaches, plums, raisins, red dates, pineapples, figs, etc. You can also choose stewed black chicken, peanuts, etc. to replenish your blood.

2. If it is indeed low, you can use immunoglobulin G for treatment when you are about to give birth, which can often quickly increase platelets. Pregnancy has a certain impact on platelets. If you already have a disease that causes low platelets, it may relapse or become more serious during pregnancy.

Precautions for low platelet count during prenatal checkup at 37 weeks of pregnancy

1. Pregnant women should avoid trauma and infection, both of which will increase the consumption of platelets.

2. Pregnant women are prohibited from using drugs and undergoing examinations that damage platelets, such as taking sulfonamides, aspirin, and undergoing X-ray examinations.

3. Pregnant women should be hospitalized one week before the due date to prepare for delivery and reduce the risks during delivery.

4. Tell the doctor your medical history and take prednisone orally 2 weeks before delivery to increase the platelet count, block the bleeding tendency in the fetus, and reduce the amount of bleeding during delivery.

5. Pregnant women need to stay in the hospital for a period of time after giving birth so that doctors can observe and treat the conditions of both mother and baby.

6. Avoid breastfeeding your baby to prevent the mother's antiplatelet antibodies and drugs from entering the baby's body through breast milk and harming the baby.

7. You should use contraception after giving birth. It is not advisable to have a second child and you should not use contraceptive rings.
