What causes a headache?

Being attacked by cold wind often leads to headaches. Generally speaking, if you sweat in a relatively warm room and then go outside and it is relatively cool outside, it may cause a headache. In addition, if you wash your hair before going to bed at night and go to bed with your hair not dry yet, it may also cause a headache. More serious cases may even lead to nausea and vomiting.

What causes a headache?

1. Caused by cold

The weather is too cold, and people's heads are easily blown by cold wind, which causes blood vessels in the brain to constrict. Blood vessel constriction causes insufficient blood supply to the brain, and it is normal to have headaches. If you know that you get headaches when the wind blows, you can wear a hat, headscarf, helmet or hoodie to protect your head and avoid the invasion of cold air and cause pain.

2. Caused by migraine

Migraine is the most common type of primary headache in clinical practice. The headache is usually unilateral and generally lasts for 4-72 hours. It may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. External stimuli such as light, sound, wind, or daily activities can aggravate the headache. Resting in a quiet environment can relieve the headache.

3. Neural headache

Patients with neuralgia usually have symptoms of headache, and are often accompanied by dizziness, irritability, anxiety, palpitations, shortness of breath, fear, tinnitus, insomnia, back pain, stiff neck and other symptoms. They are easily prone to headaches due to wind in daily life.

4. Caused by bad mood

Headaches are also closely related to personal emotions. Emotional factors such as excitement, anger, anxiety or depression may cause headaches. This generally falls into the category of tension headaches. If you have been in a bad mood recently and happen to be exposed to the wind, it may be more likely to cause a headache.

5. The aftereffects of staying up late

Modern medicine believes that abnormal cerebral vascular contraction and paroxysmal intracranial and extracranial vasoconstriction dysfunction can cause headaches after being blown by the wind. This is mostly caused by the fact that people nowadays are under too much pressure in life, use their brains too much, and often stay up late, resulting in lack of sleep and mental fatigue.

6. Headache caused by high blood pressure

If the patient suffers from high blood pressure, it may also cause headaches. This may not have much to do with the wind, but the patient may experience headache symptoms after being blown by the wind. It is recommended that patients pay more attention to blood pressure problems and eat more blood pressure-lowering foods, such as: celery, black fungus, mung beans, tomatoes, bitter gourd, kelp, onions, etc.

7. Women have headaches during menstruation

Many women also experience headaches during their menstrual period. This is because women bleed too much during their periods and their bodies are relatively weak, leading to insufficient blood supply to the brain. They are easily prone to headaches when exposed to the wind.

8. Headache after drinking

If you drink alcohol before having a cold breeze, then the alcohol poisoning caused by drinking too much will cause a headache when you are blown by a little cold wind afterwards. People who drink frequently will feel this deeply.
