What to do if a cold causes sinusitis

If sinusitis is caused by a cold, the first thing to pay attention to is to pay attention to the treatment of the cold, relieve adverse symptoms such as nasal congestion and headache, and take some medication according to the situation, especially for recurrent sinusitis.

1. Rhinitis is a common disease with many causes, the most important of which is cold. Moreover, the occurrence of rhinitis not only causes runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, etc. If it is not treated in time, it may also induce diseases such as nasal polyps, aggravating the harm to patients.

2. It is best to get checked and confirmed first so that you can get timely treatment. The most common treatments for rhinitis are currently medications and surgery. Prevent colds at ordinary times and reduce the chance of rhinitis. Rhinitis cannot be cured and is prone to recurrence. In addition to medication, surgery and other treatments, it is recommended that you try washing your nose with saline. This method does not require medication and has no side effects. It is effective for simple rhinitis if the concentration, temperature and operation method of the saline solution are mastered. When using this method for sinusitis, it is best to let the water come out of your mouth, which can thoroughly clean it and achieve better results.

3. If the inflammation is not eliminated in time, repeated stimulation and chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa and submucosa will develop into chronic rhinitis. For example, early chronic rhinitis often manifests as chronic congestion and swelling of the nasal mucosa, which is called chronic simple rhinitis; if it develops into hyperplasia and hypertrophy of the nasal mucosa and nasal concha, it is called chronic hypertrophic rhinitis; long-term irritation of the sinus opening by purulent secretions may cause nasal polyps or sinusitis; there is also atrophic rhinitis, dry rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, etc. Generally speaking, if rhinitis lasts for more than 8 weeks, it will turn into chronic rhinitis.

4. Currently, the better treatment method is surgical treatment , which is quick and effective, with almost zero recurrence rate, thus reducing the pain caused by rhinitis to patients.
