How to tell if you are pregnant

How to tell if you are pregnant

In life, there are many women who are pregnant but don’t know it. This makes it particularly easy for them to suffer threatened miscarriage due to lack of attention. Sometimes it can even lead to irreversible consequences. Therefore, if women feel changes in their bodies during the pregnancy preparation period, they must pay attention. If necessary, they can buy pregnancy test sticks or test paper to check whether they are pregnant. So how do you tell if you are pregnant?

What are the symptoms and tests after pregnancy

1. Menstruation does not come on time. If your period has always been very regular, but it suddenly does not come for more than 10 days after the due date, there is a high possibility that you are pregnant.

2. The basal body temperature remains in the high temperature range. If you insist on measuring your basal body temperature, you can judge from the chart. If your body temperature remains in the high temperature range when your period comes and this phenomenon lasts for 15-20 days, you can be considered pregnant. For those whose basal body temperature is irregular, they can also judge whether they are pregnant based on feelings such as fever and weakness.

3. Pregnancy reactions. Once most women become pregnant, they will begin to experience nausea, vomiting, loss of taste in food, craving for sour food, and lack of energy around 40 days into the pregnancy. These symptoms are particularly obvious within a few hours after getting up in the morning. These are called early pregnancy reactions.

4. Laboratory tests. For women in the early stages of pregnancy, the chorionic cells of the embryo can produce an endocrine hormone called chorionic gonadotropin. This hormone enters the pregnant woman's blood and is excreted in the urine. Therefore, the pregnancy can be determined by simply measuring the presence of chorionic gonadotropin in the urine. Only one drop of urine is needed to make a diagnosis within 3 minutes, with an accuracy rate of 95%. Generally, the above examination can be done 11-15 days after the menstrual period.

5. In recent years, radioimmunoassay has also been used to detect pregnancy. This method uses radioactive isotopes to detect trace amounts of human chorionic gonadotropin in the blood, and can diagnose pregnancy 4-5 days after menopause.

What are the methods for determining pregnancy?

1. Urine test. This is the most commonly used method. After pregnancy, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) increases and is excreted from the body through urine. This is the principle of early pregnancy test strips and hospital examinations. Its accuracy is over 90% and it can detect it as early as 2 weeks after conception. If you wait until after 4 weeks of pregnancy to do the test, the results will be more reliable. If you test yourself at home, it is best to use morning urine, which is more accurate.

2. Gynecological examination. During the examination, the doctor will find that the uterus begins to enlarge, the cervix and lower uterine segment become softer, and the color of the vaginal mucosa becomes darker. If this test is done on women 2 weeks after conception, its accuracy is nearly 100%. After pregnancy, the color of the cervix will change from its original red to dark purple, and the area between the cervix and the uterus will become particularly soft. Through gynecological examination, you can determine whether you are pregnant by observing changes in the cervix.

3. Ultrasound examination. B-ultrasound is usually performed in early pregnancy, mainly to determine whether the intrauterine pregnancy is normal. In the 4th week of pregnancy, B-ultrasound cannot clearly show signs of pregnancy; in the 5th week, a small gestational sac can be seen, which occupies less than 1/4 of the uterine cavity, or a fetal bud can be seen; if it is the 6th week, in addition to the gestational sac, the fetal bud and fetal heart can also be seen.

4. The methods of early pregnancy diagnosis can be divided into self-early pregnancy diagnosis and early pregnancy diagnosis according to the nature of the operation. In self-diagnosis, you can use the above aspects to diagnose whether you are pregnant. If a female friend who suspects she is pregnant has most of the symptoms, it means the chance of pregnancy is very high, but at this time she cannot be sure whether she is pregnant or not, so it is best to undergo an early pregnancy diagnosis.
