How does Traditional Chinese Medicine explain polycystic ovary?

Traditional Chinese medicine does not have a diagnosis called polycystic ovary syndrome. The diagnosis of TCM is relatively simple in principle. For example, patients with PCOS often have no menstruation or delayed menstruation, and some even have irregular menstruation with spotting. These are classified as late menstruation, amenorrhea or prolonged menstruation in TCM.

Some heavy bleeding or small amount of bleeding that lasts for a long time can be classified as metrorrhagia. Traditional Chinese medicine mainly makes diagnoses based on the patient's symptoms. In other words, patients diagnosed with delayed menstruation or amenorrhea in traditional Chinese medicine are not necessarily suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome in Western medicine.
