HIV antibody negative

HIV antibody negative

I believe everyone has heard of the HIV virus. HIV is AIDS. AIDS is a very scary disease for people. Until now, no one has found a way to completely cure it. AIDS has an incubation period of more than ten years, so it is difficult to be detected by people, but some people will have HIV antibodies in their bodies when they are injected with AIDS vaccine. So what happens if the HIV antibody test is negative?

What does HIV antibody negative mean?

If the test result is negative after more than three months from the time when there is a chance of infection, it can be confirmed that there is no infection. Moreover, the testing methods currently in use have been greatly improved, and antibodies can usually be detected one month after the infection. Therefore, if the test result is negative after one month (or more than one month), the chance of infection is quite low. If the test result is negative after more than two months, it can be said that infection is almost impossible. However, if you want to be sure there is no infection for safety reasons, it is recommended to check and recheck after three months.

In other words, if you check after one month, there will basically be no problems, and if you check after six weeks, there will rarely be other problems.

2. HIV test strip result description

Positive (two red lines): The patient's strip and the control line are both red and are considered positive.

Negative (one red line): If only one red line appears on the quality control line, it is negative.

No red line appears: If no red line appears within 30 minutes, the test fails and has no meaning.

Note: After adding the sample to the test paper, the result can be read after 15 minutes. The result will be invalid after 30 minutes.

3. What is the method of HIV testing?

To prevent and treat AIDS, people should go to regular hospitals for regular check-ups, at least once a year. Even if you don't go to the hospital for examination, you should still do self-examination. The following is the HIV self-test procedure:

3.1. Check the AIDS test strip: The AIDS test strip is an important item for detecting AIDS. First, put it into the plastic holder, and then drop blood into the hole. On the test paper, T and C are the positions of the test line and control line respectively, and the concave area is the area where the results are presented.

3.2. Blood collection: The blood collection device has a needle, alcohol, cotton balls, and cotton swabs. The sampling site is the finger. The sampling method is to first disinfect the finger with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol, then pinch the finger and use a needle to draw blood. After blood collection, press the finger with a cotton swab to stop bleeding.

Note: The first drop of blood cannot be used for testing, only the second and third drops of blood can be used for testing. After the blood drops into the sample hole, the test result will be available in 15 minutes.

3.3. Interpretation of results: If one red line appears on the test paper, it is negative, indicating that there is no infection with HIV; if two red lines appear on the test paper, it is positive, indicating that there is infection with HIV. In order to accurately diagnose the disease, those who test positive should go to the hospital immediately for a detailed examination.
