Drugs for treating aplastic anemia

Drugs for treating aplastic anemia

Generally, damaged cells are not easy to repair. Especially the nerves, some nerves do not grow properly. Drug treatment can only have a relieving effect. Although it can nourish nerves and cells, the later growth still depends on the patient's own condition. If the hematopoietic system is damaged, some drugs that stimulate hematopoiesis should be used. Blood circulation will be relatively poor, so the blood needs to be purified at this time.

1. Cost of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Currently, stem cell transplantation is often the first choice for the treatment of aplastic anemia in many hospitals. According to conservative estimates, the normal cost of surgery is 350,000 yuan, plus the cost of recovery and rejection treatment for more than half a year is 150,000 yuan, a total of 500,000 yuan is needed. If there is a strong rejection after the implant, the cost of treatment will be much higher. At the same time, stem cell transplantation also has problems such as high risks and difficulty in matching. So, how can we effectively reduce the financial burden on patients while ensuring the effectiveness of treatment?

2. Cost of Western Medicine

Pure Western medicine treatment generally uses Western medicine's hormone drugs, which have a certain effect of inhibiting toxins, but have great side effects. Symptoms will reappear after stopping the drug and are more likely to recur. It is a method that only treats the symptoms and not the root cause. Of course, the cost is not low.

(1) Drugs that stimulate hematopoiesis

Androgens are a class of biologically active endogenous compounds that have both masculinizing and protein assimilation effects. Its mechanism of action in treating aplastic anemia may be to increase the production of erythropoietin, make erythroid cells more sensitive to erythropoietin, enhance the effect of erythropoietin cell production on hematopoietic stem cells, and promote erythroid-directed cell differentiation into proerythroid cells and then proliferation and maturation into red blood cells.

(2) Adrenal cortex hormone

Adrenal cortex hormones are effective in treating bleeding and fever in patients with aplastic anemia. Its mechanism is to act on the hematopoietic microenvironment, reduce capillary permeability, have a hemostatic effect on skin and mucosal bleeding caused by thrombocytopenia, eliminate inflammation and exudate, and inhibit immune response. However, adrenal cortical hormones have many side effects. Long-term use in patients with severe granulocytopenia can easily lead to serious infections and may also cause gastrointestinal bleeding. The combined use of adrenal cortex hormones and anabolic steroids can have a better effect.

(3) Drugs to improve microcirculation

Microcirculation is an integral part of the hematopoietic microenvironment, and the remaining hematopoietic progenitor cells can be stimulated and nourished by improving the patient's microcirculation.

① Yiyeqiu alkali, which is a biological alkali extracted from plants, can stimulate the central nervous system, improve bone marrow microcirculation, and promote the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells.

② Scopolamine drugs. Through the anticholeline effect of the nervous system, it relieves microvascular spasm, adjusts bone marrow blood perfusion, and promotes cell differentiation and maturation.
