Gout Prevention and Treatment Handbook

Gout Prevention and Treatment Handbook

Gout is a relatively common disease. The main manifestation of gout is pain in various joints. If people get gout, they will be unable to move normally and will feel very painful. Moreover, gout is very difficult to cure, so you must take precautions before you suffer from gout. The following editor will take you to learn about the ventilation prevention and treatment manual so that everyone can effectively prevent gout.

Maintaining ideal body weight: preventing overweight and obesity

Gout patients often suffer from overnutrition and weight gain, which is clearly correlated with high uric acid levels. Regular weight measurement can be used as an indicator of nutritional status. For commonly used standard weight calculation formulas and methods for determining obesity, please see "Dietary Principles for Gout and Obesity".

Restricting calories

Most gout patients prefer a high-calorie, high-fat and high-protein diet, which can easily lead to overnutrition and excessive calorie intake. Therefore, it is necessary to control the daily calorie requirements and balance the intake of various nutrients.

Drink as little alcohol as possible and try to quit drinking

In order to break down the large amount of ethanol that enters the body, the human body must consume energy, resulting in the production of a large amount of uric acid.

The metabolism of ethanol in alcohol increases the lactic acid level in the blood, which hinders the excretion of uric acid by the kidneys, resulting in increased blood uric acid and causing acute attacks of arthritis.

It is generally believed that beer has a low alcohol content and is safe to drink, but few people know that beer contains a large amount of purine and is high in calories, which can easily induce gout.

Therefore, alcohol should be avoided during the acute phase of gout, and efforts should be made to quit drinking during the chronic and intermittent phases. If you must drink, you should control the amount of alcohol you drink, drink slowly, and not drink it all in one breath.

Balanced nutrient intake

Carbohydrate intake accounts for 55%~60% of total calorie requirements.

It is not advisable to choose coarse grains, but fine grains should be used, because the purine content of coarse grains is higher than that of fine grains.

Do not eat fructose because it is high in calories. 1g of fructose provides 16.7Kj (4kcal).

Daily fat intake should be less than 50g, accounting for 25%~30% of total calories.

Protein intake should be less than that of normal people, with a daily intake of 0.8~1.0g per kilogram of body weight. Purine is mostly found in protein foods.

Therefore, when choosing protein foods, you should choose foods that contain no or little purine, such as milk, eggs and plant protein, but you should note that soybeans and lentils in plant protein also contain a lot of purine.

Develop a habit of drinking plenty of water

Drink a glass of water before going to bed at night, when you wake up in the morning, after exercise, after sweating, and after taking a shower. Drinking 2000~3000ml of water every day can dilute the uric acid concentration in the blood and promote the excretion of uric acid by the kidneys.

Limit purine intake

During the hyperuricemia period, it is necessary to limit the intake of purine, limit foods with high purine content, freely choose foods with low purine content, and appropriately choose foods with medium purine content.
