Nail flesh grows out

Nail flesh grows out

Although nails exist on human fingers and toes, there are huge differences between fingernails and toenails. Because the feet are in a humid environment that is easily infected by bacteria for a long time, toenails are prone to problems, such as onychomycosis. Some people find that their nails grow into the flesh and feel very painful. So what toenail disease causes toenails to grow into the flesh?

In fact, when toenails grow into the flesh, it is medically called "paronychia", which is an inflammatory skin disease that occurs in the groove where the edge of the nail contacts the nail.

Paronychia often occurs in people who like to play sports such as football, trim their nails excessively, or deal with water for a long time. The general symptoms are redness, swelling and pain on both sides of the toes. In severe cases, suppuration, nail ulcers, etc. may occur, and even further complications such as onychomycosis may occur!

Although surgical removal of the entire toenail is a common treatment for paronychia, many patients lack knowledge about the disease, which causes paronychia to recur after surgery, causing great suffering.

If you want to completely cure paronychia, nail removal is not the first choice or necessary. The most important thing is to do the following two things:

Anti-inflammatory and sterilizing

For paronychia, effective anti-inflammatory and sterilization measures are needed to avoid the spread of infection and reduce the possibility of complications such as onychomycosis.

Correcting the growth of toenail edges

People who have paronychia will have ingrown nails. The toenail pierces into the flesh, causing the inflammation to worsen and recur. Therefore, on the basis of anti-inflammatory and sterilization, correcting the growth of toenails is the top priority.

Do not remove the nail

1 trick to easily solve paronychia

Materials: a bottle of 75% alcohol, a bottle of 3% iodine, and a small bag of medical cotton.

step

Soak the foot with the diseased nail in vinegar and hot water for 5 to 10 minutes to soften the diseased nail.

Use a clean pair of nail clippers to pick out and cut off the part of the toenail that has pierced the flesh.

③Apply 3% iodine tincture to the nail groove on both sides of the affected toenails to prevent recurrence. After 5 minutes, use alcohol to clean the iodine solution (anti-inflammatory and anti-virus).

Tear off an appropriate amount of medical cotton, dip it in alcohol, roll it into thin strips, and use a toothpick or other tools to help insert it into the nail groove. It can be just stuck between the edge of the toenail and the nail bed to prevent the diseased nail from contacting the flesh, and change it every day.

⑤Repeat step 4, changing every day. At the same time, the longer you persist, the lower the chance of recurrence of paronychia. It usually takes 1 to 3 months to correct the growth of the diseased nail. Although the period is long, it is very effective in preventing recurrence and helps people stay away from the pain of nail extraction.

Note: When the nail grows into the shape shown in the picture below, it is almost corrected.

Finally, don’t forget these important things in your daily life

During the recovery period, you should avoid wearing tight shoes and socks to prevent the toenails from being squeezed and re-entering the nail flesh.

Avoid contact of your feet with unclean water, mainly ponds, rivers, ditches, etc. These water sources will aggravate inflammation and lead to recurrence.

③If paronychia is complicated by onychomycosis, antibiotic treatment should be taken immediately to avoid affecting healthy nails.

As a traumatic method, nail removal surgery is not the preferred treatment method in medicine. It is only considered when the nail is obviously loose in acute paronychia or there is severe accumulation of pus under the nail.
