Big toe pain

Big toe pain

Although the various parts of the toes are very inconspicuous in people's daily lives, because the toes are on the soles of the feet and play a role in supporting the entire soles of the feet, the role of the toes cannot be ignored. Some people do not pay attention to protecting their toes when walking, which causes toe injuries and sometimes causes pain in the big toe bones. What causes pain in the big toe?

1. What causes toe pain?

1. A common symptom of gout is foot pain. The main reason for toe pain caused by gout is that the insufficient activity of the enzyme responsible for breaking down uric acid in the body causes uric acid to accumulate in the body and precipitate in the joints, soft tissues, etc.

2. Most toe joint pain is caused by gout. The symptoms of gout in the foot often first appear in the big toe. The disease often occurs acutely at night, with redness, swelling, heat and pain in the joints. The pain is severe and reaches its peak within 24-48 hours. It is relieved within a week and often stops.

3. When the patient's gout symptoms develop to the chronic stage, symptoms such as chronic arthritis, tophi, gouty nephritis, uric acid stones, and other complications will appear. Frequent attacks of gout symptoms will cause serious pain to the patient. As the disease continues to progress, the patient's tophi will continue to grow.

2. Causes of big toe pain

1. Gout

Standing or walking for a long time every day can easily cause big toe headaches.

2. Often wear pointed shoes or high heels

The front part of the pointed-toe shoe is triangular in shape, forcing the front of the foot to be squeezed into a narrow triangular area. In addition, the upper is made of leather and has no elasticity, so the big toe is forced to turn outward and the little toe to turn inward. High heels increase the pressure on the feet and over-stretch the ligaments in the joints, resulting in big toe valgus.

3. Genetic factors

About half of patients have a genetic cause. Although the occurrence of hallux valgus is related to inappropriate shoes, it is mainly caused by certain defects in the bones and ligaments that make up the foot. Standing or walking for long periods of time will aggravate ligament injuries, causing onset or accelerating the progression of the disease.

4. Gout

Big toe pain is a typical symptom of gout in the early stages. If you experience this symptom, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
