How to prevent children from getting meningococcal meningitis

Meningococcal meningitis is the abbreviation of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, and winter is the peak season for meningococcal meningitis. The disease is transmitted through the respiratory tract. Most babies suffer from upper respiratory tract inflammation, which is similar to a cold and generally does not develop into meningitis. However, if the resistance is poor, bacteria can invade the blood circulation, causing sepsis, and eventually invade the meninges, leading to purulent meningitis.

1. Do not believe in folk remedies : If the drug powder blocks the perforation of the eardrum, the pus in the inner ear tympanic cavity will not be drained smoothly, and long-term stimulation and corrosion of the eardrum may cause the inflammation to spread to the surrounding tissues. In severe cases, pus can spread into the skull, causing complications such as epidural abscess, purulent meningitis, brain abscess, and even facial paralysis. Severe complications can be life-threatening.

2. Physical fever reduction: When the baby is diagnosed with otitis media and treated with medication, if the baby still has a fever, parents need to measure the body temperature at any time and perform physical fever reduction. If the fever exceeds 38.5℃, medical attention is still required.

3. Cut your baby’s nails: Babies may experience ear pain and ear discomfort. Babies who are too young cannot express themselves and may become restless. Your baby’s nails should be cut short to prevent them from scratching their ears.

4. Care at all times: Make sure there is a parent to care for the baby at all times, as the baby may experience nausea and vomiting. If the eardrum is perforated, secretions will flow out. If it is already chronic otitis media, the eardrum will thicken and scar, the activity of the eardrum will decrease, and even cholesteatoma may form in the middle ear cavity. At this time, parents should take the baby to see a doctor again in time to see if surgical treatment is needed.

Is it okay not to get the AC meningococcal vaccine? No, it is not okay. Through prevention, children can have a healthy body so that their future life and work will not be affected. Meningococcal meningitis is a disease that is common in children. At this time, the baby's ability to express is not very strong, and parents need to observe the baby's condition at all times so that they can go to the hospital for treatment in time.
