1. What are the benefits of hot compresses on the eyes?

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, hot compress has the effects of dredging meridians, promoting the flow of qi and blood, dispersing blood stasis, reducing swelling and relieving pain; from the perspective of Western medicine, hot compress can promote the absorption of inflammation, relieve pain, promote local blood circulation, promote the absorption and dissipation of blood stasis, and increase local nutrition.

Home hot compresses are mainly used for keratitis, acute iridocyclitis, sty, acute dacryocystitis, subcutaneous hemorrhage, etc. (Note: Hot compresses on the eyes are prohibited in patients with acute conjunctivitis) Hot compresses on the eyes can promote blood circulation around the eyes, relieve symptoms of eye fatigue, and increase the temperature of the eyes. 2. Common methods of hot compress eyes

(1) Dry hot compress method: Use a hot water bottle or a bottle that can withstand high temperatures, fill it with hot water, wrap it with gauze or a clean towel or Koala's healthy living paper air paper, and place it on the eyes that need hot compress. The temperature is generally around 40 degrees (note that the temperature should be moderate to avoid burns). Apply hot compress for 15-20 minutes each time, twice a day.

(2) Wet hot compress method: prepare a clean towel or Koala House paper towel, fold it into a size of 7-8 cm, soak the towel in hot water, wring it out, close your eyes, and place the towel directly on the eyelid skin. Make sure the temperature is moderate to avoid burns. Apply for 15-20 minutes each time, twice a day. Or pour hot water into an open cup, place your eyes over the rim of the cup, and steam your eyes with hot air. After the fumigation is completed, be sure to use the Koala House paper towel to gently wipe off the water mist droplets on your face.
