Why is my right leg swollen and painful?

Many people know that swelling in the right leg is a disease that troubles many people, and there is no good solution. The swelling of the right leg is caused by not paying attention to limb health. Everyone should change their lifestyle habits. The swelling of the right leg makes the patient always depressed and anxious, and causes great damage to the muscle tissue. In order to solve the swelling of the right leg, people will go to the orthopedics department of the hospital for relevant examinations and treatment. So, what's causing the swelling and pain in my right leg?

1. Reasons

Tibial and fibular fractures are very common, especially in children. It can be caused by both direct and indirect external forces. Fatigue fractures are sometimes seen in the upper tibia and the middle and lower fibula. Those caused by indirect external force (such as falls, twisting, etc.) are mostly large oblique or spiral fractures. The lower part of the tibia is often spiral, while the middle and upper parts of the fibula are oblique fractures. Single tibial fractures are common in children, and most often present as subperiosteal or greenstick fractures.

When caused by direct external force (such as compression, collision, impact, etc.), the fractures are mostly transverse or comminuted.

The fracture lines of the two bones are at nearly the same level, and it is easy to form an open injury on the anterior medial side of the tibia. Sometimes it is a multiple-segment fracture, but a single fracture of the fibular shaft is almost always caused by direct external force. Tibial and fibula fatigue fractures can be seen in long-distance runners or ball players. The displacement of the fracture is determined by the direction of external force, muscle traction or the influence of gravity on the lower limbs. In single fractures, displacement is often minimal. Double fractures are often displaced. The distal ends of middle and lower fractures are often displaced outward and dorsally, and the fracture site is often angled posterolaterally. When the upper segment is fractured, the proximal end often tilts forward and medially. The distal end of the fracture often rotates outward due to the influence of the foot's gravity. Fatigue fractures are not displaced, and are manifested as a large amount of local callus formation, while the fracture line is still clearly visible.

2. Mitigation Methods

Prevention of direct or indirect violence can reduce morbidity. If a fracture occurs, different complications should be actively prevented according to the different fracture sites to prevent ischemia, gangrene, and functional impairment.

After a patient suffers a fracture, in order to restore the weight-bearing function of the lower leg as soon as possible, the angular deformity, rotational displacement and limb shortening of the fracture must be completely corrected to avoid affecting the weight-bearing function of the knee and ankle joints. After fixation, the patient should be immediately guided to perform ankle dorsiflexion activities and quadriceps contraction exercises. After 2 weeks of fixation for stable fractures, the patient can do leg-lifting and knee-flexion activities under the guidance of a doctor. After 3 weeks, the patient can get out of bed and walk with crutches without weight bearing while continuing to be fixed in a splint. In the later stage, you can do massage and muscle relaxation and cycling exercises.
