The difference between implantation bleeding and menstruation

Because people may bleed during menstruation, some women may think that they are experiencing menstrual bleeding, while others may be experiencing bleeding after implantation, especially during the pregnancy preparation stage. Bleeding may occur about seven days after implantation. You must be careful because implantation bleeding is similar to menstruation, but not too much. Menstruation will cause general discomfort and abdominal pain.

Overview of implantation bleeding symptoms: Implantation bleeding occurs about 7 days after conception. If it is 7 to 10 days away from ovulation, implantation can be suspected and you can go to the hospital for examination. If it is more than 12 days away from ovulation, it may be menstruation.

There will be no bleeding when the fertilized egg implants normally. If the woman happens to ovulate during intercourse and the man's sperm is well motile, conception can usually occur within 24-48 hours. The woman will not feel anything during implantation. Only a small number of people will bleed a small amount when the fertilized egg implants due to physiological and physical problems. Implantation bleeding is a type of dysfunctional uterine bleeding (dysfunctional uterine bleeding). Since an ovarian follicle gradually develops and matures in every menstrual cycle of women of childbearing age, the estrogen level in the body also gradually increases. When the mature follicle ruptures and ovulates, the estrogen level in the body will drop sharply, making it impossible to maintain the growth of the endometrium, causing local necrosis and exfoliation of the endometrium and manifesting as vaginal bleeding. After ovulation, the follicle quickly forms a corpus luteum, which can secrete a certain amount of estrogen and progesterone to quickly repair the ruptured endometrium, and the bleeding will stop automatically.

There are generally no special symptoms during menstruation , but sometimes there may be general discomfort, fatigue, breast pain, swelling of hands and feet, soreness and heaviness in the lower abdomen and back, etc. There may also be constipation, diarrhea (prostaglandin effect), frequent urination and poor appetite. Some patients experience symptoms such as headache, insomnia, palpitations, depression or irritability, which usually disappear naturally after menstruation.

Fold to edit this section Ovulation date Menstrual cycle refers to regular, cyclical uterine bleeding. Along with this bleeding, there should be maturation of follicles, ovulation and formation of corpus luteum in the ovaries, and proliferation and secretory changes in the endometrium. Ovulation is affected by endocrine hormones from the pituitary gland and ovaries and changes periodically. The length of the cycles of the two is the same, with one cycle per month, and ovulation occurs between two menstrual periods. Women's menstrual cycles vary in length, but the interval between ovulation and the start of the next menstruation is relatively fixed, usually around 14 days. The calculation method is to count from the first day of the next menstrual period, and count down 14 days or subtract 14 days to get the ovulation day. The ovulation day and the 5 days before and 4 days after the ovulation day are called the ovulation period. For example, a woman's menstrual cycle is 28 days, and the first day of this menstruation is December 2nd. Then the next menstruation will be on December 30th (December 2nd plus 28 days). Then subtract 14 days from December 30th, and December 16th is the ovulation day. The ovulation day and the 5 days before and 4 days after it, that is, from December 11th to 20th is the ovulation period.
