Distributed in Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Southwest China and other places. It has the effects of cooling blood, stopping bleeding, clearing away heat and detoxifying. It is commonly used for vomiting blood due to stomach heat, hemoptysis due to lung heat, bleeding from the intestine due to wind, metrorrhagia, surgical bleeding, traumatic bleeding, sores and swellings, snake bites, and bruises.

2. Efficacy and function

Cool blood and stop bleeding; clear away heat and detoxify. It is mainly used for vomiting blood due to stomach heat; coughing up blood due to lung heat; bleeding due to intestinal wind; metrorrhagia; bleeding due to surgery; bleeding due to trauma; swelling and infection due to sores; snake bites; and injuries due to falls.

3. Related compatibility

To treat pit viper bites: decoct 4 strains of serum in water; add 1 qian of water drops (ground into powder) to the mixture and drink it all at once. In addition, choose three to four ingredients such as honeysuckle, wild chrysanthemum, bitter herb, green costusroot, goat's milk, and clover, each of which is three to five cents, decocted in water and taken, one to two doses a day. For external use, grind water drops, seven-leaf lily, rhubarb, etc. into powder, mix with vinegar and apply to the swollen area.

4. Usage and Dosage

For internal use: decoct in water, 9-15g, fresh product 30-60g; or grind into powder, 9g each time. For external use: take appropriate amount, crush the fresh product and apply; or grind it into powder and apply.

5. Plant characteristics

Perennial herb. The rhizome is well-developed, brown, and horizontal, with several slender roots on it; the pseudobulb is slender, cylindrical, up to 8 cm long and 6 mm thick, with 3-5 leaves. The leaves are ovate to oblong, 10-15cm long, acuminate at the apex, entire, and sheath-like at the base. The raceme is sparse, 7-15cm long; the bracts are small; the sepals and petals are often yellow-green, about 8mm long, the two side sepals are narrow and oblong, the middle sepal is narrow and oblong, and the petals are linear; the lip is purple or purple-red, ovate or obovate, obtuse or concave at the apex, with two small tubercles at the base; the wings of the column near the apex are obtuse and slightly swollen at the base.
