Functions of the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian

The Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian is one of the main meridians in the human body, which is commonly known as the Kidney Meridian. It contains a large number of acupoints and plays a vital role in maintaining human health. The Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian has a very good effect on treating diseases of the urinary system and nervous system. If you have problems with your urinary system, you can massage the corresponding acupoints for treatment. So, what is the function of the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian?

The Kidney Channel of Foot-Shaoyin, also known as the Kidney Channel of Foot-Shaoyin in English, is abbreviated as the Kidney Meridian. It is one of the twelve meridians, with a total of 27 acupoints, 54 acupoints on each side. It starts from under the little toe, runs obliquely along the sole of the foot, comes out from under the Ren Gu, follows the back of the inner ankle, enters the middle of the heel, goes up to the inside of the foot, comes out from the inner side of the popliteal fossa, goes up the inner and posterior side of the thigh, penetrates the spine, belongs to the kidney, and connects with the bladder.

The foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian and the foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian are exterior and interior to each other. It is mainly used to treat diseases of the urinary and reproductive systems, neurological and mental diseases, respiratory system, digestive system and certain circulatory systems, as well as diseases of the parts through which this meridian passes. The foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian flows from 5 to 7 pm, which is the You hour. If the child is in poor health, when the child is three to five years old, parents can gently press both sides of his spine, from the head vertebrae to the lumbar vertebrae, to guide the false heat down. If kidney yang is insufficient, edema will be aggravated in the kidney meridian. Only those with strong kidneys can live longer.

The Kidney Meridian of Foot Shaoyin starts from under the little toe, runs obliquely along the sole of the foot (Yongquan), comes out from under the tuberosity of the navicular bone, goes along the back of the medial malleolus, enters the heel, then goes up on the inner side of the calf, comes out between the semitendinosus tendon and the semimembranosus muscle on the inner side of the popliteal fossa, goes up through the inner posterior edge of the thigh, leads to the spine, belongs to the kidney, connects with the bladder, comes out from the front (Zhongji, belongs to the Ren meridian), goes half an inch lateral to the midline of the abdomen and two inches lateral to the midline of the chest, and reaches the lower edge of the clavicle (Yufu).

The Kidney Meridian has two branches:

1. The straight branches of the kidney go up through the liver and diaphragm, enter the lungs, along the throat, to both sides of the tongue root.

2. The pulmonary branch meridian comes out from the lung, connects with the heart, flows into the chest, and connects with the hand Jueyin pericardium meridian.

1: Acupoints and indications of the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian:

The Kidney Meridian of Foot Shaoyin is distributed on the fifth toe, soles of feet, inner and posterior edge of lower limbs, chest and abdomen, and runs through 27 acupoints. The first acupoint is Yongquan and the last acupoint is Yufu. Among them, 10 acupoints are located on the inner and posterior edge of the lower limbs, and the remaining 17 acupoints are distributed on both sides of the anterior midline of the chest and abdomen.

2. Diseases that the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian prevents and treats:

Respiratory system symptoms: cough, asthma, hemoptysis, chest and flank pain.

Gastrointestinal disorders: abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation.

Diseases of the head, face, and five sense organs: tinnitus, deafness, toothache, headache, dry and sore throat, and dizziness.

Mental illness: syncope, epilepsy, insomnia.

Discomfort along the meridians: heel pain, knee pain.
