Cyst of left lobe of thyroid gland

Cyst of left lobe of thyroid gland

The thyroid gland is an important component of the body. This part is also relatively fragile. It is easy to develop a cyst in the left lobe of the thyroid gland. This is a disease with a relatively high incidence rate. The cause of the disease is iodine deficiency. The symptoms are goiter. The prevention method is to eat some iodine-containing salt appropriately. The cyst in the left lobe of the thyroid gland can also be removed surgically.

Causes

Thyroid cyst is an endemic disease mainly caused by iodine deficiency, which causes thyroid hyperplasia, thyroid cysts and degenerative lesions.

Clinical manifestations

Patients with thyroid cysts do not experience any discomfort in the early stages, and the swelling in the front of the neck is often discovered accidentally. There are usually no systemic symptoms. Some people have symptoms of hyperthyroidism, and those who have been ill for a long time may have symptoms of hypothyroidism, such as decreased appetite, weakness, mild edema, etc.

examine

1. Laboratory examination

It is of certain significance for diagnosing cysts and judging their nature.

2. Imaging examination

Ultrasonic examination can show liquid dark areas in the mass, which can be distinguished from solid nodules. Radionuclide imaging mostly shows "cold nodules".

3. Others

Thyroid function tests were mostly within normal range. Most thyroid cysts are benign. Thyroid cancer with cysts is rare, but cytological examination of the cystic fluid of cancerous cysts can reveal cancer cells.

diagnosis

1. The thyroid gland is unilaterally or bilaterally enlarged and diagnosed as a soft nodule. It feels cystic when pressed, the local skin color and temperature are normal, and there is no obvious tenderness.

2. Basic metabolic rate, 131I measurement and blood thyroxine measurement can exclude hyperthyroidism, simple goiter, thyroiditis and thyroid tumor.

3. B-ultrasound examination revealed an increase in the volume of the thyroid gland and the presence of a fluid level wave.

treat

To treat thyroid cysts, it is necessary to understand their nature. Malignant ones require surgical removal, while benign ones can be followed up and observed.
