Functions of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian

Functions of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian

The Bladder Meridian has another name called the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, so the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian and the Bladder Meridian are the same meridian. There are not only many acupoints but also many branches on the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. Each branch reaches a different part. Therefore, many people focus on pressing the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian when performing massage. So what effect does pressing the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian have on the human body?

Functions of the Bladder Meridian

1. Course: The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian starts at the inner corner of the eye (Jingming Point), goes up across the forehead, intersects with the Governor Vessel and goes to the top of the head (Baihui Point).

2. Branching

The branch at the top of the head: It branches out from the top of the head (Baihui point) to the upper corner of the ear.

The branch runs straight backward from the top of the head: it descends from the top of the head (to the Naohu point), enters the skull and connects with the brain, then comes back out and goes down behind the neck (Tianzhu point).

The following is divided into two branches:

One, along the inner side of the scapula (starting from the Dazhui point), along the side of the spine, along the midline of the back one inch and five fen, descending to the waist, entering the muscles along the spine, connecting with the kidneys, and belonging to the bladder, then branching out from the waist and descending, along the side of the spine, connecting to the buttocks, through the back of the thigh, and entering the popliteal fossa.

Secondly, it goes down from the inner side of the scapula, through the scapula, along the three inches beside the midline of the back, across the buttocks, through the hip joint (Huantiao point), down along the outer and posterior side of the thigh, converges in the popliteal fossa, goes down through the gastrocnemius muscle, through the back of the external malleolus (Kunlun point), turns forward at the heel, through the outer side of the dorsum of the foot to the outer end of the little toe (Zhiyin point), and connects with the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian.

3. Connection with internal organs: It belongs to the bladder, connects with the kidneys, and is connected with the heart and brain.

4. Main clinical manifestations: aversion to cold, fever, nasal congestion, epistaxis, headache, eye pain, pain in the neck, back, waist, buttocks and posterior side of lower limbs, numbness of the little toe, abdominal distension, difficulty urinating and enuresis.

5. Pathogenesis analysis: The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian governs the body's exterior. When external evil invades and this meridian is affected by the evil, it will cause chills, fever, nasal congestion, and epistaxis. The bladder meridian goes up to the forehead and connects to the brain. When the evil qi goes up along the meridian, it will cause headaches. The bladder meridian starts at the inner canthus of the eye, goes down behind the neck, one branch goes along the back and reaches the waist, goes down through the thigh and enters the Nai fossa, and one branch goes down along the back, then goes down again after reaching the Nai fossa, turns forward to the outer ankle, and reaches the little toe. If the meridian qi is not smooth, it will cause eye pain, pain in the neck, back, waist, buttocks and the back of the lower limbs, and numbness and uselessness of the little toe. If the bladder qi transformation is dysfunctional, the lower abdomen will be bloated, urination will be difficult, and enuresis will occur.

6. This meridian treats: diseases of the head, neck, eyes, back, waist, lower limbs and mental disorders. The back-shu points on the first lateral line of the back and the acupoints on the same level as the second lateral line are mainly used to treat related diseases of the internal organs and related diseases of the tissues and organs.

Symptoms of bladder obstruction

The bladder meridian controls the largest detoxification channel of the human body and is also an important barrier for the body to resist external wind and cold. If this meridian is unobstructed, external cold will be difficult to invade, and internal toxins will be discharged in time. What harm will the body suffer? Therefore, we must open up the bladder meridian. The so-called "opening up" means allowing more qi and blood to flow into this meridian. Who provides energy to the bladder meridian? It mainly relies on the kidneys. The kidneys and bladder are exterior and interior to each other. The bladder meridian is just a channel. It has no power to run by itself. It needs the support of kidney qi to complete the functions of keeping out the cold and detoxifying. So you increase the demand on the bladder meridian and stimulate the supply potential of the kidneys. Similarly, the same is true for the Du meridian.

How to open up the bladder meridian and the governing vessel? In fact, it is very simple. There are many methods, such as pinching the spine, scraping, cupping, and tapping the buttocks (if the bladder meridian is blocked, tapping the buttocks will be very painful). You can also use the base of your palm to rub from the cervical vertebrae to the coccyx. If the flesh is too thick, you can also use your elbows to rub. It should be noted that the part of the bladder meridian on the leg is also very important. It can also be treated with scraping, cupping, kneading, tapping, or even fistulas with your hands, as long as it can be fully stimulated. You can also stretch your legs straight, bend over and touch the ground with your hands, bend backward and do sit-ups. There are also many yoga movements. As long as they can stimulate the lumbar spine and bladder meridian on the back of the thigh, you can use them.
