How to prepare Polygonatum sibiricum

Polygonatum odoratum can treat many diseases. It can be used to make soup and as a Chinese medicinal material. Many people like to use Polygonatum odoratum as a health product, especially for patients with three highs, such as high blood pressure, high blood sugar and other diseases. It has a very obvious inhibitory effect on these diseases. However, under normal circumstances, Polygonatum odoratum is not suitable for direct use as medicine. It needs to be processed. How to process Polygonatum odoratum?

How to prepare Polygonatum sibiricum

After steaming and drying, the slices or pieces are usually called processed Polygonatum. There are many traditional ways to prepare Polygonatum, such as black bean processing, honey processing, wine processing, and pure Polygonatum steaming. The processing of Polygonatum sibiricum requires repeated steaming and stewing until the surface is brown and shiny, the inside is dark brown, the texture is soft and the taste is sweet. This is the so-called Polygonatum sibiricum processing method of "nine drying and nine steaming".

Preparation method of Polygonatum odoratum:

1. Preparation

Take an appropriate amount of Polygonatum sibiricum, remove impurities, wash, soften until it is of moderate hardness, cut into thick slices, and dry in the sun.

2. Processing Polygonatum

Take Polygonatum, wash it, steam it repeatedly until it turns moist and black inside and out, cut it into thick slices, and dry it in the sun. After steaming, the side effect of irritating the throat is eliminated and the tonic effect is enhanced.

3. Huangjing

Take 100 kg of Polygonatum sibiricum, wash it, add 20 kg of rice wine, mix well, put it into a jar or other suitable container, seal it, put it in a water bath, stew it with water, turn it over once in the middle, until the wine is absorbed, the color is dark and moist, and there is no numbing taste in the mouth, then take it out, slice it, and dry it in the sun. After being processed into wine, it becomes nourishing but not greasy, and also has the effect of clearing the meridians. Processed Polygonatum and wine Polygonatum have black appearance similar to Rehmannia glutinosa, shiny, and dark brown in the center. The texture is soft and the taste is sweet. Adding rice wine as an auxiliary ingredient can remove the numbing smell, avoid irritation to the mucous membrane, help the efficacy of the medicine, and enhance the tonic effect. (Raw Polygonatum has a numbing smell, which will need to be processed until the numbing smell disappears).

4. Steamed Polygonatum

Wash the Polygonatum odoratum to remove impurities, put it into a steamer or a steamer, and steam it for 6 to 8 hours. Be sure to add water to the pot. Steam it until it turns yellow and black and softens, then dry it in the sun. Put it in the steamer or steamer again, take it out and dry it until it is 80% dry, put it in a jar, cover it with a wet cloth, moisten it thoroughly, take it out, cut it into 1 cm thick horizontal slices, spread it in a winnowing basket, and expose it to the sun and dew at night until it is dry.

If you want to use it to strengthen the spleen, roast it with honey or brown sugar, 3 taels of honey or brown sugar per pound of medicine, add water to dissolve, sprinkle into the medicine and mix well, take it out after it is absorbed, put it in a steamer and steam it until the original gas rises for 1 hour, take it out and dry it. When placed in a jar or box, it should be covered tightly to prevent moth and moisture. Avoid iron tools.

5. Making Polygonatum odoratum by nine steaming and nine drying

① Mix with rice wine: Mix appropriate amount (about 10%) of rice wine and clean Rehmannia root, and stew until the wine is absorbed.

② First steaming and sun drying: The first time is required to "steam until the center of the polygonatum becomes hollow" (pay attention to collecting the polygonatum juice during the steaming process), take out and "dry until the skin is slightly dry", then mix the polygonatum with the polygonatum juice and appropriate amount of rice wine, and "steep until the auxiliary materials are absorbed".

③ Repeated steaming and sun-drying: follow the same method as the first steaming and sun-drying. Steam again, and then dry in the sun until the skin is slightly dry, then mix in Polygonatum odoratum juice and an appropriate amount of Polygonatum odoratum, and repeat this process for eight times. The second to eighth steamings require 70% of the amount of rice wine.

④ Ninth steaming and sun drying: Finally, add the remaining (20%) rice wine and polygonatum juice, and steam until the surface is brown and shiny, the center is dark brown, and the texture is soft.
