Redness of the skin around the mole

Redness of the skin around the mole

The moles on our skin are pigmented patches that rarely develop into lesions. They are dark in color and do not change in size. But what is the problem with red skin around moles? If the skin around a mole becomes red and painful, you should be aware of the possibility of a lesion, but if it is just redness, there is no problem. However, if you are worried, you should still go to the hospital to remove the mole.

1. What is the reason for the redness of the skin around the mole?

Generally speaking, moles are benign pigmented patches and rarely become malignant. However, when the color of the mole deepens, or its size increases, and redness, swelling, and itching appear around it, it is important to prevent it from becoming malignant. If you have a mole on your body, you don't have to panic. Most moles are formed gradually after birth and will not harm your health. If the area around the mole is red, and the redness is not particularly severe, it is normal and you don't need to worry too much. If the skin around the mole is persistently red, it needs attention and it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination.

2. Several common methods of removing moles

1. Laser method

Indications: Most moles, including deep and shallow moles.

Method: Currently, shallow moles can be removed using ruby laser, chrome laser or dye laser; if the mole is larger and deeper, carbon dioxide ultra-pulse laser should be used to remove it.

Advantages: Laser mole removal can control the size and depth of the optimal light spot, and is less likely to leave scars or become infected.

Disadvantages: Moles that are too deep still need to be removed in several times.

2. Surgical resection

Indications: Larger moles or moles that have changed.

Method: After local anesthesia, the doctor uses a blade to remove the mole and then sutures the wound.

Advantages: It can remove the mole once and for all. If the mole has the potential to become malignant, pathological tissue examination can be performed after removal.

Disadvantages: Anesthesia and sutures are required, and the wound is not easy to heal.
