What to do if the wound turns red after healing

After the surgical wound heals, if the wound turns red, you should pay attention to it. It may be caused by scar hyperplasia. After the surgical wound heals, if you do not pay attention to diet conditioning, often eat spicy and irritating foods, or drink alcohol, it may cause scar hyperplasia, which will cause the wound to become red and cause symptoms such as pain and itching. For more serious scar hyperplasia, it can be treated by certain methods.

What to do if the wound turns red after healing

1. Avoid sunlight during the postoperative recovery period to prevent ultraviolet stimulation and pigmentation. It is best to apply some topical medications, such as Fuqingshuang, triamcinolone, dexamethasone, etc. to relieve itching.

2. Do not remove the scab on the incision too early after surgery. If the patient forcibly removes the scab too early, the epidermal cells that are still in the repair stage will be taken away, and even the dermal tissue will be torn off, which will stimulate itching of the wound.

3. Keep the scar clean and hygienic, wipe off sweat in time, do not scratch it with your hands, or rub the scar with clothes or use water to relieve itching, so as not to aggravate local irritation, promote inflammatory reaction of connective tissue, and cause further itching.

4. Eat more fruits, eggs, lean meat, pork skin and other foods rich in vitamin C, E and essential amino acids for the human body. These foods can promote blood circulation and improve epidermal metabolism. Avoid eating spicy foods such as peppers, onions and garlic.

How to treat scar hyperplasia

1. Local subcutaneous injection

For scar hyperplasia, the drug injection is directly injected into the scar subcutaneously for treatment. The main ingredient of this drug is steroids, which can fight inflammation and dissolve inflamed tissue. This is currently the simplest and most effective treatment method for scar hyperplasia.

2. Surgical treatment

Surgical treatment of scar hyperplasia is relatively suitable for scars with larger areas. The treatment is relatively difficult and the clinical effect is generally good. There are three common methods: facial scar excision plus skin grafting, skin flap method, and simple excision and suture method.

3. Chemical peeling

For mild or superficial peels, trichloroacetic acid or alpha-hydroxy acid is used to gently remove the top layer of skin cells. For common scars, doctors usually perform trichloroacetic acid peeling. These peels are very effective in curing scar hyperplasia.

4. Laser skin resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing uses a carbon dioxide laser to polish the skin. It is a relatively bleeding-free skin polishing method. Compared with traditional skin resurfacing methods, it has made great progress and has a good therapeutic effect on scar hyperplasia. Laser treatment for hyperplastic scars is based on the fact that most scars are caused by excessive proliferation of fibrous connective tissue after skin trauma. It proposes the principle of unblocking meridians, decomposing and repairing subcutaneous elastic fiber tissue, comprehensively repairing and regenerating cell tissue, and using the generated collagen to infiltrate and replace scar tissue. It has a good effect in treating scars.
