How does rabies virus originate?

The rabies virus usually enters the body through the blood after an animal carrying the rabies virus bites the human body. It then spreads along the nerves directly to the brain, causing the disease.

Rabies virus infection is contagious. After being bitten passively, the wound needs to be cleaned with soapy water, and then with plenty of running water. After the wound is cleaned, you need to go to the hospital for a skin examination in time. Then, the rabies vaccine can be injected to stimulate the production of antibodies and avoid virus infection.

Rabies vaccine injections can be divided into two types. One is that after the wound is exposed, it needs to be injected on the same day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days and 28 days respectively. The other is that there is no exposed wound, but the work involved is relatively dangerous and there is a possibility of exposure to rabies virus. In this case, the injection is needed in advance, usually on the same day, 7 days and 21 days respectively.

After the rabies vaccine is injected, there may be slight redness, swelling and tenderness at the injection site. It should be noted that it is best not to get wet for a short period of time to avoid infection. At the same time, there may be a slight fever after the injection, which can be improved by drinking more warm water. If the fever symptoms have exceeded 38 degrees, use a hot towel to wipe the chest, back, armpits and thighs for physical cooling. After physical cooling, if the fever does not subside or even continues to 39 degrees, you need to take ibuprofen and acetaminophen antipyretic drugs under the guidance of a doctor to improve it.
