Treatment of narrow eye angle

Treatment of narrow eye angle

The narrow angle of the eye is likely caused by diseases such as glaucoma or presbyopia, which leads to neurological damage and blurred vision. Therefore, it is recommended that patients should seek timely treatment and pay attention to relaxing and resting their eyes. For the case of narrow eye chamber angle, we should check its cause and then choose the treatment method based on its cause. It is recommended that you can read the content of the article.

Glaucoma

The neurological damage caused by glaucoma is irreversible, so it is particularly important to detect glaucoma as early as possible. What are the symptoms of glaucoma? Glaucoma has different symptoms depending on the type.

Glaucoma symptoms

Types and symptoms of glaucoma:

1. Primary angle-closure glaucoma

Acute attack: This type is more common in Oriental people. Usually occurs in one eye. The rapid increase in intraocular pressure is caused by the sudden blockage of the channel for aqueous humor drainage. It has the most obvious symptoms of glaucoma, such as sudden blurred vision, rainbow-like halos around lights at night, and in severe cases, red and swollen eyes, headaches, nausea or even vomiting. Symptoms worsen rapidly and, if not treated promptly, can lead to blindness (within hours of onset).

If treated early, it can be cured. It is often mistaken for gastroenteritis, migraine or hypertension and treatment is delayed.

Chronic attacks: usually occur in both eyes at the same time. The phenomenon of increased intraocular pressure is not as sudden as an acute attack. The increase in intraocular pressure is due to the narrowing of the channel through which the aqueous humor drains. The symptoms of glaucoma are not obvious and patients often have no conscious symptoms, so they are often ignored. At night, you can see a rainbow-like halo around the lights. There may be occasional eye pain and even headaches. This phenomenon is more likely to occur after staying in a dark room for a period of time, and will be more relieved when sleeping. At night or in dimly lit environments, vision may deteriorate. Occasionally it turns into an acute attack.

2. Primary open-angle glaucoma

Chronic onset: This is the most common type of glaucoma in Westerners. The drainage channel of aqueous humor gradually becomes blocked, causing the intraocular pressure to slowly increase.

This type of glaucoma usually has no obvious symptoms and is most likely to be ignored. The disease is often not discovered until the patient comes to the hospital for an eye examination in the late stage due to blurred vision or reduced visual field, and the optic nerve is often already severely damaged.

3. Secondary glaucoma

Damage or blockage of the corner of the eye causes increased pressure in the eye. The causes include eye injury, inflammation, tumor or bleeding, improper use of medications (such as steroids), and diseases (hyperopia with cataracts, diabetes, and blocked blood vessels in the eye).

4. Congenital glaucoma.

Due to abnormal development of the eyeball at birth, the drainage channel of the aqueous humor is blocked. Onset is present at birth and sometimes occurs in early childhood or as late as adolescence. The patient's eyeballs are larger than normal, the cornea appears cloudy, and there are phenomena such as photophobia and tearing.
